I remember how much fun it was to use my imagination as a child. I loved to play “house” and part of that was to make mud pies and berry dishes outside. I would have given ANYTHING to have a pretend store-bought stove, but instead I used a cardboard box with the heating elements drawn on with one of my daddy’s big black permanent markers.
IMAGINE
As children we use our imaginations to create wonderful worlds and stories, but for most adults – the gift of imagination is buried as we mature.
Did you know that we are SUPPOSED to have a sanctified imagination?
How do we sanctify our imaginations? And why should we?
I’m sure everyone is familiar with the junk in — junk out theory when it comes to food. It is the same principle with whatever we allow to enter our eye and ear gates. We may not see the danger of watching or listening to things that are offensive to the Lord, but everything that enters into our minds plants seeds.
We use our imaginations when we operate in prophetic things too! But we can’t trust visions and images we see if our minds aren’t pure and guarded from a lot of the junk around us.
When I think about the word IMAGINE, I can’t help but imagine how awesome it will be to lay hands on each person I know with cancer and see the cancer FLEE immediately! I am imagining that day coming soon!
Yes, as adults – we need to practice using our imagination again. God never told us to put it away. Start to dream and imagine what God has planned for your future!
You may have guessed! I am linking with Lisa-Jo Baker for 5 Minute Friday. Today’s prompt is: IMAGINE. Do you want to join the fun? Just write for 5 minutes to see what flows out.
Yes – sanctified! James tells us to keep ourselves from being polluted by the world. That is powerful. And yes, we need to remember how to imagine and to do that with our children.
Love that. A sanctified imagination! Beautiful.
“Did you know that we are SUPPOSED to have a sanctified imagination?” This is such a great question and something to really ponder. You gave me goosebumps with your comment about putting your hands on someone with cancer and see the illness disappear. I just lost my father to cancer two months ago. But as I say: God always heals on this side or the other. It all depends where he needs His angels more.
That’s the kind of wisdom from our good Lord… pure… I like that term, too… sanctified imagination… May our creaking hearts and minds be supplied with the heavenly Oil!!! May you have a wonderful weekend sister and God bless!
I pray for wisdom and grace daily – It is interesting how things we imagined as teens and young adults changes over the years – And I don’t want to imagine people healed – I want them healed – Amen. Have a wonderful day 🙂
Yes, sanctified imaginations! We need to protect our minds, keep our thoughts holy and pure as well as the images we put there. We got rid of TV about 3 years ago. I just believed that if I wouldn’t do it, say it, or live it myself then why would I watch someone else do it. So we looked for more pure and family friendly options only to find that there were so few options after that. So we just got rid of it. It’s been such a blessing. And yes, not only getting rid of the junk, but replacing it with things eternal. Junk out, joy in! – Thanks for this Beth!
I loved playing house growing up. And, my sisters and I made mud pies and would try to feed them to our brothers!
I’ve been starting to dream again, to use my imagination. It’s been fun!
