I have begged my husband to work out with me for YEARS. He works hard all day, but he isn’t getting a cardiovascular workout. A year or two ago I did get him to “power walk” with me (ONCE). My dear husband is taller than me, but my height is all in my legs where his is mostly in his torso. So, as he walked next to me his comment was, “I feel like a flat footed platypus walking next to a long legged giraffe.” Ok, isn’t that what every woman wants to hear? What a romantic! (NOT.)
Last night I somehow managed to nag talk him into using my treadmill. I was just about ready to dig out his tennis shoes when I saw him climbing up WITH HIS WORK CLOTHES AND BOOTS ON! Sigh … MEN!
So what did he do? Being the manly man that he is — he immediately put it on an incline of 10 and started RUNNING. Did he warm up? NO. Does he ever run? NO. So with heavy boots on his feet, I heard, “Clump, clump, clump” THEN after awhile I heard, “Ca THUMP!” I ran in there to see scuff marks all over my wall. Sigh.
He was on the phone (yes while running) and looked down and lost his groove. Thankfully I connected the safety switch to him. lol Like I said … men. Gotta love them.
Isaiah 40:31But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Apparently it was his goal to reach a mile as quickly as possible. So in 12 minutes he was off and in the shower. Does that even count as exercise? I don’t know.
On another note, here is a cute picture of our Princess. As you know, she has to wear a patch over one eye 2 hours a day. She was in the middle of a play date when her girlfriend asked if she could wear a patch too.
What a friend, right?
John 15:3Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
I'm sorry, Beth, but that story about your hubby and the whole treadmill thing just cracks me up! MEN! It's a good thing he didn't break a leg…literally! Do you think he'll be brave enough to hop on it, again? No work boots or work clothes allowed the next time! Your little daughter has such a sweet friend! See…eye patches are COOL, afterall!:)
That's too funny! You know I'm going to have to find a nick name for him now, since he dared to call me "Humpty", LOL
That's the reason I hate exercise. I act like I'll get better, faster results if I go as fast as I can. Of course I burn out quicker. I guess "slow & steady wins the race" is a true saying.
Oh my, I am so thankful your hubby wasn't hurt. May he from now on have a cheerful heart when he decides to go for it again, so all will be well. *U*
I wouldn't mind being called a long legged giraffe. I've always wanted longer legs.
Your daughter and her friend look sweet.
I'm with you when you say "Men". It says alot!
I need to know what words you used to inspire him to get on that treadmill?!?! I've used my treadmill Monday-Friday for two weeks now-and have asked Hubs when he plans on working out. I can never get an answer out of him! 😉
Princess looks so cute with her girlfriend and their patches.
My husband would totally do that. You want him to excercise, he sees this as a challenge to "win" somehow.
Your daughter & her friend look so adorable!
Hugs & love,
Mimi
Definitely just like a man!! Glad he didn't get hurt!!
Your little princess and her friend look so sweet with the patches on!!
