God never ceases to amaze me by the way He connects the body of Christ.
Throughout the years He has connected me with friends who have helped me from one step to the next and this year is no exception!
I would love to share how God has used one little connection that took place over the Internet about 7 years ago!
When we left my husband’s home church (when our daughter was a baby) the social site Myspace was popular (it may still be — I’m just not there anymore). I created an account on Myspace and used their blogging feature to vent and work through my pain. Well, as with Facebook – we had the option to “make friends” with strangers. There was a lady pastor named Jan who lived in Louisiana. I was drawn to her because she was a female pastor (one of the main reasons we left our church was because they suddenly decided the women deacons and women lay pastors were no longer allowed to walk in those roles at the very church we were ordained). Jan ministered to me and we remained connected for a year or so.
Time passed and I merged away from Myspace, created my own blog, and found a new home on Facebook. I lost my connection with Jan …. for several years.
One day I received a friend request from her and was shocked to find out that she had moved to North Carolina! I didn’t think much more about it because NC is a big state.
Fall came which means CORN MAZE here on our farm. I posted pictures of our maze and Jan commented, “I live next to a corn maze that looks like that.” Well, you guessed it! She literally moved from Louisiana to the land right beside of our corn field! WHAT ARE THE CHANCES!?!?!?
At the time her daughter needed a job and we needed corn maze help. That was the first year of our corn maze … 4 years ago. Now, her daughter Maegan is my right-hand-woman! Seriously. She could run the maze all by herself and it is such a relief to know I can trust her with our family business.
I thought that was the blessing from this holy connection, but just last week another mutual friend that I have met because of this family posted a prayer request on FB. He was asking prayer for some friends of his who lost a family member. The friends he mentioned were friends from my past! I would have never known about the death without his post. I was able to pray with the couple and attend the memorial service. I WAS SO THANKFUL!
All of this from one little connection made on Myspace almost 7 years ago!
Thank You God!
Stop ….

It is amazing to me that we can connect and make friends through our blogs. I loved reading this story of you and Jan. And living so close to you; wow.
