Today is our daughter’s 7th birthday! (Happy Birthday Beautiful!)
Lately when I have studied her face, I have noticed her features changing. My husband can’t see the changes, but I can. The shape of her nose is different and the profile of her face is moving, stretching, and growing.
Yesterday I was attempting to clean out our office when I discovered some letters that I had our family members write to our daughter on her first birthday. Two of the letters were from my parents. They are priceless pieces of my parent’s hearts scribed and etched in copy for generations to see. I wept as I read them over and over. I pray they will be priceless to our daughter someday.
Yes, things have definitely changed around here. Our daughter’s sweet face has matured and my parents have moved to their eternal destination.
Change can be good and change can be difficult.
Yesterday our daughter shared that her school had another drill. She had already explained over the past few weeks about fire drills and storm drills, but THIS one was concerning, “If a bad person” came into the school. The thought made me shudder. Yes, even the times have changed. It is horrible that children have to be concerned about “bad people” trying to hurt them.
Change.
I wonder what will happen in the next seven years?

I’m linking with Lisa Jo today at The Gypsy Mama for her 5 Minute Friday challenge. She provides the prompt and we write for 5 minutes to see what comes out. Today’s prompt: CHANGE.

Have a blessed day everyone! I will write as often as my schedule allows with our seasonal corn maze business approaching. Don’t give up on me.
As a teacher set to go back to school next week – the changes in society continue to astonish me. It’s hard to think of how much has changed since I was in school. What a difference.
What I do know is that despite all of these changes, God’s the same, and that’s a calming reassurance for me in this ever-changing world.
Happy Birthday to your daughter!
God Bless,
Jolene
My little one started 1st grade this week, so I can relate to the changes you talk about seeing in your daughter. What a great keepsake to have letters written to her on her first birthday! I hope you have a great day and that she has a wonderful birthday!
Happy Birthday to your precious blessing.
That’s chilling that kids have to deal with that. I know how you feel when I find things that belonged to my mom. Happy birthday, to your little girl.
Yes Beth, change is inevitable. And happy birthday to your little princess. I know what you mean about those drills. We have to practice hiding together in our class of three year olds just in case a ‘bad man’ came into our school. I shudder at the thought but we need to be prepared.
How wonderful that you discovered those letters from your parents to your daughter. Perfect timing to be cleaning!
Blessings and love,
Debbie
At times, change can be as a runaway locomotive. How much more in these changing shifting times that we need the changeless one?
Happy birthday to your princess. What priceless treasures you’ve found in the letters written to your daughter. And I cannot believe schools are having “lock down” drills, but it’s so common. My children experienced lock down twice last year. Scary. Have a beautiful day friend, whose neck Iong to hug!
