Those who have followed my blog know how important words are to me.
My heart-friends have been at the receiving end of my constant correction, “Don’t speak that over yourself!” Just this past year I quit correcting them when I realized it bothered them (ha), but I still KNOW what I KNOW.
We have the power of life and death in our tongues!
Proverbs 18:20-21
From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled;
with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied. The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland ingrained this truth in my spirit! Our words create things in our lives — good OR bad!
So many people say things in jest — not meaning the words they speak, but they speak them nonetheless.
For example:
- I love you to death!
- You make me sick!
- You’re so crazy!
- That drives me crazy!
- That always happens to me!
You get the picture.
I was shocked when an acquaintance told me the other day that when she is old and has dementia … WHAT? I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I’M NOT EXPECTING TO LOSE MY MIND OR MEMORY. Where is that biblical? Satan will take full advantage of her comment.
Some of you may think I’m over the top with this, but the more I learn and the older I get — the more I see this confirmed. I know people who use the “This always happens” statement and yes, it continues to happen because they continue to confess it.
Our confession is KEY to our breakthrough!
I know many are leery of the “name it and claim it” ministers. I’m not suggesting you claim anything that isn’t written in the Word of God!
I was just watching Sid Roth on his show It’s Supernatural. I would love for you to watch this episode with Dr. Cindy Trimm! She confirmed what I have felt in my heart all along. If you click HERE you can watch Dr. Trimm’s interview.
Dr. Trimm said that she confessed Deuteronomy 28:1-14 over her family each morning. This is what I created from those scriptures:
- We are blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
- The fruit of my womb is blessed!
- Our crops are blessed!
- Our livestock is blessed!
- Our businesses are blessed and are increasing!
- We are blessed when we come in and blessed when we go out!
- Our enemies who rise up will be defeated before us.
- Our barns are blessed!
- Everything we put our hands to is blessed!
- We are blessed in the land God is giving us.
- We are blessed with abundant prosperity.
- The heavens are open over us.
- We are blessed with God’s storehouse and bounty.
- We have rain to bless the works of our hands.
- We will lend and will not need to borrow.
- We are the head and not the tail.
- We are the top and not the bottom!
Do you catch yourself speaking curses over your life? Over your health? If so, why not capture those reckless words and place them under submission?
Change what leaves your lips and believe God’s Word!
I dare you to take this challenge. Start confessing God’s Word over your life and see what happens.
God bless you!
AMEN! Beth…I’m with you on this 100%!!! Someone significant in my life has spoken words like that to me and I usually respond or say I don’t receive that.
Gonna check out the program with Sid Roth and Dr. Cindy Trimm… and I need that list imprinted in my mind. [Btw, Joel Osteen speaks forth affirmations like this and that’s what drew me to his ministry, that you wondered about… it’s not all true what they say about him either, we should only speak forth positive things anyway. ] There I publicly said that I am thankful for Joel Osteen’s and Lakewood Church’s ministry. That’s not toward you at all Beth… but the same applies what we say about people in leadership. We must speak forth blessings, not curses.
Love you and thanks! many blessings,
Peggy
Ha. No offense taken. I based my feelings about him after watching his interview with Larry King Live. But I did delete my post I wrote because I don’t want to attack another brother or sister in Christ.
Love you Peggy!
Good move Beth… and thanks for not taking any offense, cause I never would intend to do that. I saw him also with Larry King and he just seem to be stumbling and bumbling up there. He asks for prayer before he goes for these interview now. Now I’m asking if you remember me saying something about you being a miracle worker and I believe you are and an open vessel for Him to flow through… so I spoke good words over you. Really great message from Dr. Cindy Trimm, I love her boldness, that’s how I want to pray in Spanish! I’ll just keep speaking it forth.
Did you get her book?
You sure are blessed in the country and blessed in the city girl, keep on blessing and receiving His blessings! Love you and all you share… Peggy
You’re super sweet. I appreciate the positive words my friend! Yes, I DID order her book from Sid Roth’s ministry, but whew — they really add the “donation” funds to that cost. Mercy!
And you WILL pray with that boldness Peggy!
Love you!
Going to impress these confessions over me daily! They are great affirmations filled with His power! Well, all His promises are because they are our sword of the spirit… His Word! Thanks again Beth!
I needed this and yes, it was great confirmation for me… God bless you! (forgive my many typos above:
seems, interviews… I just kept missing the ‘s’)
I guess it is so early I didn’t even notice any typos. I’m so glad you found my post. THANK YOU for sharing that website you sent me! Woo hoo! It spurred ANOTHER post!
Hi Beth, thank you. God has His way of confirming His own word for me. Our church has at the start of this year taught us about the meditation of God’s word, our pastor urged us to mutter or chew by speaking God’s Rhema over and over and receive the promises in ps1 that ends with whatsoever i do shall prosper. I am grateful to have found this sharing in our website and the clip you attached. What blessing from God!
Thank you Faith! Praise God for such a wise pastor. Bless you!
Amen. We are speaking spirits. God said that we are made in His own image and own likeness. So we ought to act like Him. The only way to do that is by engaging ourselves in God’s word. Thanks for sharing with us. Keep sharing !!!!!
Praise the Lord…
Yeah, that’s very nice. Proverbs 18:21 totally revolutionized my way of speaking. I keep my daily confessions in my mouth based on God’s word. Romans 4:17 also says, “Call the things that be not as though they were.” That’s why our tongue is very important. Above we need to ensure whom we hang around with because we will be whom we associate with.
I thank God for his faithfulness and for this Minsitry for sharing these wonderful destiny chnging biblical truths. May God richly bless your Ministry,Beth!
