I have the act of SERVICE on my mind.
As a wife and a Mom — usually my desires come last.
I watch what my family wants to watch on TV.
If my husband’s in our vehicle, HE chooses the music we hear.
When serving dinner, I am the last to sit down and the last to eat.
When leaving the kitchen, I am the last because I am the one left behind to clean up the mess.
Even at church, my opinionated family decides what row we will land on because I always want to sit “too close to the front” ….
Add a couple of parents who are in need and now you see a woman who does nothing more than serve people all of the time.
I serve their desires and meet their needs.
Oh, don’t give me too much credit. I don’t always “feel” like putting everyone’s needs above my own.
1 Peter 4:10-11
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To Him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (ESV)Acts 20:35
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (ESV)
It is more blessed to give than receive … It is more blessed to give than receive … It is more blessed to give than receive … (I’m reminding myself.)
Forgive me, but I do believe my flesh is showing. Let me adjust my clothing with the armor of God. Let me adjust my breastplate of faith and love.
1 Thessalonians 5:8
But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. (ESV)
My friend Angie at Laughter Does the Heart Good and I often laugh about God giving us assignments to be used by Him yet we always want assignments the WAY we want them. Father, forgive me.
I love the Lord so much and it is my heart’s desire to be used by Him to change lives for His glory! I must learn the lessons provided for me in this season …
I’m linking with Amy at Signs, Miracles, and Wonders to share an encouraging song. Enjoy!

I forgot that you had moved and was glad to see your new site and replaced the old with this in my blogroll. I was wondering why you haven’t posted in a while 🙁
Anyway, it is a great reminder to always give our best in thinking highly of others than ourselves. I always think of Jesus washing His disciples’ feet when it should have been the other way around. What an example of service coated with unconditional love that one was! How true that our nature wants “selfishness”…But by His strength, we can…
May you always remain strong in the Lord’s mighty power! God bless you sister.
What a beautiful song and one I never heard. That is my desire too …to be used by Him.
I can understand what you were writing though. Our emotions can often get in the way. It happens with me too. To be used by God in whatever way He chooses for us is for our good and His glory.
Love you,
Debbie
Oh, it can be hard to serve with a truly humble heart. What a blessing that you get so many opportunities and that you let the Lord use you. This is a great song; I’ve never heard it before, but I will listen to it again.
A life of service is such a high calling and a blessing to others.
May you continue to serve in love and may the Lord’s blessings abound in your life.
Blessings,
Janis
