As always, I get up earlier than my family so I can have some QUIET time. However, this morning I keep hearing something in our attic.
In case you’re new to my blog, we live in a farm house that was built in 1900. My husband’s great grandfather built our home. Nothing square — crooked floors, crooked doors, but it is home.
It is also a small home which means our attic space is PACKED! Honestly, it is pitiful. All we can really do is open the door and cram Christmas decorations, old toys, high school albums from years gone by, old stereos, HUGE SPEAKERS, etc … Adding to our collection is some of our daughter’s toys that didn’t go to Good Will.
Several years ago I “stored” a very annoying toy up there. This toy doesn’t have an off switch and it is LOUD. No volume control. If anyone/thing touches it — loud music begins to play. Argh. WHY DIDN’T I JUST THROW IT AWAY?
So, here I am — sitting on our couch and music starts playing in my attic.
1. What just activated it?
2. Dare I go up there and attempt to dig through the stuff to FIND the toy?
3. What just activated it?
4. Maybe it is so hot up there the plastic is melting and THAT activated it.
5. Do you think a 4 legged hairy thing activated it?!?!?!?
6. Should I just let it play and pray the batteries and whatever activated it DIE?
Ok, I vote #6.
#6 all the way, my friend! Stick with #6 :-). Thanks for the smile this morning.
EASY get hubby to go up there. It could be a fieldmouse or snake but what ever send him Dai the farm up there with a shootgun and shoot the toy.But you will still be wondering what is moving about up there. I'm glad i'm in the U.K. only rats to worry about.
I vote for clearing out the attic and getting rid of everything you can bear parting with. We did it. I say if you haven't touched it in years, you probably never will. We live in tight quarters, as well. :o)
Call Ghost Hunters or an exterminator! That would freak me out!
We had a duck that would quack sometimes when it was turned off! I think we finally threw it away because it was freaking us out!
OH my! Brought back memories to before we got our siding put on the house, one Winter two squirrels were up in our attic chasing one another an knocking over everything in the process. I heard christmas balls breaking and everything. It became pretty funny… but I was glad they were NOT able to get from the attic into the house! LOL
I agree … get the hero to find the critter!
Funny suggestions from your friends in the comments!
I'd send up someone bold and manly to investigate. While he's up there, have him toss down those big speakers along with the scary toy and tote it all–along with anything else that you know you can part with–straight to closest Goodwill.
I'm in a purging mode in our house, so I'm urging people to toss what they can.
Hey Beth! I'm just sitting here enjoying my quiet time too. Hopefully, it's not a bored ghost up there, haha. Maybe there was a toy hanging on for dear life and couldn't hold on anymore, lost it's grip and just fell on top of it. OR maybe the noisy toy started feeling claustrophobic and wants a way out (snicker). Thanks to Toy Story, my imagination has gone off the deep end.
But seriously, it just sounds like a good reason to get out of the house for the day and let Boaz check it out. haha
You all are cracking me up! Trust me, I will be sending Boaz up there with a trap.
And the "ghost" suggestion … ha, the only ghost in this house is the Holy Ghost. No demons allowed. :o)
Thanks for reading!
Love you all!
Beth
Let it play. No way I am going up there…on the off chance your four legged furry mouse is there. I would rather find a gorilla, attack dog, etc. in your attic. The one thing I am afraid of is mice. Now you know my secret.
Hugs,
andrea
Yes Beth!! Totally #6…don't go investigate. I know I wouldn't.
Have a blessed day!
Trudy
#6!!! LOL, thanks for making me smile this morning. Love you!!
Maybe the toy found a girlfriend – like a dusty old mop.
Who's that Lady..(Swiffer Commercial). They need music to dance to!

Have you thought about investing in a pair of really good sound-proof ear plugs? Take care sister. God bless.
Oh that is just tooooo funny….
i think i would of just prayed and hoped that it was nothing.. dont think i would go up there.
but cute post..
#6!! Wouldn't you feel horrible if it was a huge furry rat with fangs and claws that jumped on Boaz's face just as soon as he pulled down the stairs? You would never get over that! So let it die and then, do like CC said and get to purging 😉
I would vote for # 6 too. Scared of 4 legged hairy things & attics.
I vote #6! Oh my goodness, this made me laugh! Thanks for that.
And thank you for your thoughtful comment on my post about my sister! I praise the Lord every day that she is here with us! I am very sorry to hear about your niece. Sometimes God's will is a strange thing…though we don't understand always His ways, I'm sure things will be revealed in time.
Thanks again. Blessings to you!
No, Beth. It is not a mouse or hairy gorilla. It is the devil trying to steal your quiet time. No need to go up there. Just cast him out in Jesus' name.
Oh my yes # 6 or 7th option to call someone one to check it out b/c I'd get no rest until I know.
Oh, my gosh, this brought back such memories for me. A flying squirrel got in our attic once several years back and I almost had a coronary. I'd stick with #6 and hope it dies quietly. Loved this!
Eek! I'm with you on #6.
I vote #7 call in the husband and HE must sort it out. Otherwise #6 JUST AS GOOD.
LOL but admit you secretly do wana know what activated it… I do hehehehe
I vote to high tail it out of there and call the hubby to go take care of it. I have to be honest and say this would have freaked me out!
Oh man Beth I am with you on #6. I have something similar ….. almost. Each morning I turn on my kitchen light, but do not look into the kitchen yet, as at times I have been greeted by cockroaches or palmetto bugs. FREAKS ME OUT! So I just flip the light on and turn away, giving the buggers time to escape and go into hiding if they are even there that morning. Yuck!
Oh! Definitely No. 6!!! But I will admit, I'd be fit to be tied until I was sure that whatever caused it was gone!! Yikes!! Definitely one of those furry 4-legged varmints!!!
~Beth
More than likely ,hopefully it is moisture. Any condensation would cause any electronic or electric circuits , (like a battery) to connect . I have had this spooky phenomenon happen with a singing bear . lol
Blessings,
~Myrna
#6!!! haha!
That's funny. We had a toy in our bonus room once and if the hallway would even vibrate or shake, the toy would go off!
Yikes!! Lovebug would have to take care of it for me, lol
