Today I am linking with two ladies. First, The Gypsy Mama for 5 Minute Friday. The purpose is to write from my heart for 5 minutes without critiquing what I wrote. No editing — just writing from my heart.
Today’s topic is Beauty.
GO: 6am
“Beauty is in the eye of beholder” I’ve always heard.
For me, I am grateful that God sees us differently than we see ourselves. I have always criticized the way I appear physically. It is never “enough” — thin enough, hair isn’t curly enough, hair isn’t straight enough, skin isn’t tan enough … you get the picture.
But God’s Word says we are FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE. We are created in His image.
Does satan distort what we see with our natural eyes? Often times, I think that is the case. I think our perception is skewed.
Should we be vain and focused on our outer appearance anyway?
The beauty of the heart is what counts. I want to be a beautiful aroma to my Lord. I want to be pleasing to Him. I desire for my heart to be pure and filled with beautiful thoughts. No selfishness and greed … just beauty.
I believe that people who are beautiful on the inside ooze beauty wherever they go — no matter how they appear on the outside.
That is my heart’s desire. To be a lovely example of my Lord. To smell like His scent from spending time in His Presence. A pleasing, beautiful sacrifice.
That is beauty to me. Pure beauty …
STOP: 6:05am.

true words! it’s so hard, though, to shut the view of the world out, and focus on what matters to the Lord, is it not? especially in today’s technology age. and i DO believe our sight can be skewed, which is why we have to constantly be turning it toward Him.
thanks for your sharing today!

Yes it is hard to shut off the view of the world. I haven’t gotten there yet. Sigh … Thanks for commenting!
This post touched me in ways I can NEVER express.. my words just would not be enough. Thank you greatly!
To God be the glory Sheila. <3
Too bad others can’t see it this way. All the more reason to shine our lights right? 🙂 You are beautiful Beth inside and out! Don’t let anyone tell you different!
Love always,
)(ope*
Thank you for the sweet comment Hope. Bless you!
before I read your post, I noticed your “about me” blurb and I loved that you write about being that fragrant aroma for the Lord. Then you reiterated it here…I’m beginning to think Jesus wanted me to hear that today. Thank you!
I love how God confirms things and brings His message right before our eyes. Praise God!
Beth, so true. Satan loves to take our insecurities and turn them into obstacles that cripple us. I wish I’d known that years ago. The picture looks just like you! Good day:)
Amen, me too Amy! (Ha, thanks about the picture.)
When I was a teenager complaining about my looks a teacher told me, “Pretty is as pretty does.” I raised my daughters on that premise and believe with all my heart the truth in it. You called it oozing beauty and I love that! Can’t wait to share that with my beautiful daughters!
Blessings,
Pamela
Awwww, thanks Pamela. Bless you!
Yes to be a beautiful aroma to my Lord…may I reflect only Him and not the world’s view of beauty
Amen. God help us keep our eyes on Him.
Oh, I love that you included a picture of your first grade self!
I started to look for an old school picture for my post, but then I realized my 5 Minute Friday was turning into a thirty-five minutes search for an old pic…so I stopped.
First time participating in this link-up, and I’m loving all the new voices I’m finding!
LOL … I guess that defeats the purpose of a 5 minute post. :o) I’m glad you found my blog and connected!

I LOVE this!!! Especially this part => “I want to be a beautiful aroma to my Lord.” That’s my heart’s desire, too.
Thank you Hope! God bless you!
Hi from Alicia’s here. Already following. Love your picture. I should go look for mine. Have a great weekend.
Thanks Dolly! I hope you find your 1st grade picture. :o)
I love this comment:
I believe that people who are beautiful on the inside ooze beauty wherever they go — no matter how they appear on the outside.
These folks just exude a type of grace, of loveliness that makes you just feel so good being around them.
I think that when we focus outwardly on the things that matter, such as God, and other people, a beauty settles about us.
Thanks for your thoughts today.
Thank you Kim. I believe you are right.

Wonderful post! I started mine out with a similar line about “eye of the beholder.” I know your desire is to be a beautiful example of God’s grace, and I believe you’re doing that, but I think you should know, you’re beautiful on the outside too. Inside and out, I can see it in the short time I’ve visited here. Grace and peace . . .
You are so sweet. Thank you for the kind comment Stephani. (Great minds think alike, right?) Bless you!
Loved this post, Beth!!!
And you were so adorable! You still have those sweet, pretty eyes!
That is sweet to say Alicia. Thanks girl!
I’ve been walking this road most of my life. Never measuring up, out of place. My physical appearance has already been a hurdle in my life. I am beginning, only beginning to see myself as beautiful. Love you my friend!
I’m so glad you are beginning to see what is so obvious to others who cross your path. Love you too Barbie. <3
Loved what you said in your post…I too am one of those that always worried (worrys) about the outward appearance…but it’s the inside beauty that I should strive for….and I work at that constantly!
I like to think I’m a work in progress!! ;o)
~Beth~
I’m a work in progress to lady! Trust me!
Thanks Beth!
Such a great post – thanks for sharing. I believe you are right – true beauty really is inside and no matter what is on the outside, a beautiful spirit always shines through.
