As we drove home from the mountains yesterday, we saw the strangest looking clouds we had EVER seen! They looked ominous!
What do you think about these strange formations? Have you ever seen anything like these? I didn’t turn these into black and white photos. These are color. This is how they looked from a distance.Creepy looking, eh? They were wispy looking yet thick enough to stay together.
Psalm 68:4
Sing to God, sing praise to His name, extol Him who rides on the clouds — His name is the LORD— and rejoice before Him.
Psalm 18:9
He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under His feet.
Psalm 18:11
He made darkness His covering, His canopy around Him— the dark rain clouds of the sky.
Psalm 97:2
Clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
Hmmmm.
Joel 2:1-2 Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming. It is close at hand- a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness. Like dawn spreading across the mountains a large and mighty army comes, such as never was of old nor ever will be in ages to come.
Last night was the biggest moon we will see in 2009. Of course I had to take some pictures. Enjoy!
I copied the scriptures from biblegateway.com
I have never seen clouds like that before. While they do look kind of cool, I also agree with you that they look rather ominous.
Very odd clouds. At first I thought I was looking at pictures of snow!
Those are awesome clouds! You should send them to your local TV station and see what the meteorlogist has to say about them. I tried to take a picture of the moon, but we were in the car and all I had was my cell phone. But it was beautiful, as your pictures show. God at work!
Those clouds were very different. On cloudy days, I always think…some day soon Jesus is going to split those clouds and return for us. Oh how exciting that will be. I have to say…I have never seen clouds like those before. STill…great pictures.
Beth, those were some beautiful clouds!
I’m still in PA at my Mom’s, but those pix made me really yearn for my home in the Smoky’s. It’s not until folks visit over this way that they understand why the mountains here are called the Smoky’s. I never grow tired of their beauty and strength. I live in a county with 2 large lakes and lots of mountain hollows. Every morning the world looks different.
I’m about to make myself home sick here. I’d better stop.
Glad you had a good time enjoying simple mountain living.
Beautiful…they look like snow in the pictures!
Those clouds look like a painting. Wow! I have never seen anything like it. I love clouds!
Great moon pictures too! We went out to look at that beautiful bright moon. I forgot to capture it with my camera though.
I am a “sky” watcher…know what I mean? And I love those photos! Yes, rather ominous, but yet beautiful! It’s always a reminder to me of God’s magntitude!
Beth,
They look so thick and ominous and yet there is such a beauty to them at the same time!
I can’t believe how you captured all of that in a picture! I also loved the moon pictures! Just gorgeous!
Happy Monday to you, my sweet sis!
The clouds almost looked like snow. Very interesting. I also loved the photo of the moon over your home; how beautiful!
I love when I’m flying in a plane and we pass through the clouds. There may be turbulents on the way up but it calms as the plane ascends higher. Maybe an analogy for life? We see the clouds but God sees it all. I want to live above the clouds where it’s calm in my day to day life with Him.
Have a great one!
Those clouds were cool! I love the nature pictures and strange phenomenon stuff. I love this strange weather and clouds that we have been having lately. I think God is trying to get our attention and show His handy work, to answer the question once and for all, “Who hung the moon”.
Thanks for sharing them.
We have seen some beautiful formations of clouds at certain times in our lives too.
We also saw the moon shinning over head the other night. I attempted to get a shot with my camera but it just looked like a big bright light.
Those cloud pics are awe inspiring. They do not look real. They seriously look like a colored pencil sketch. Wow.
Your pics of the moon almost look like postcards. So unusual…but again awe inspiring.
Oh wow Beth! I haven’t seen any like that.
Thanks for sharing the scriptures. They are beautiful as always.
Take care my friend!
May you have a blessed week!
Your pictures are just great! Blessings.
