Today I link with Beth at Power of Your Love to memorize God’s Word! Would you like to join us? If so, click HERE.
Last weeks memory verse was Jeremiah 17:9 which states:
“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” (NIV)
I have been able to use this scripture in many different conversations this past week. I absolutely LOVE meditating on a scripture each week!
Sometimes the Amplified Version gives a great explanation, so I thought I would share it with you too: The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it [perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind]?
If you read Jeremiah 17:10-11 you’ll see:
10 “I the LORD search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward a man according to his conduct,
according to what his deeds deserve.”
11 Like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay
is the man who gains riches by unjust means.
When his life is half gone, they will desert him,
and in the end he will prove to be a fool.
The LORD searches our hearts and our minds. He alone truly knows our hearts.
Psalm 119:11
I have hidden Your word in my heart
that I might not sin against You. (NIV)
YEAH, BETH!!!!
I’m glad you are so excited about memorizing Scripture!! I am, too!! Thanks for joining me–last week’s was a real eye-opener, I think!!
And this week’s–I love it!!
Have a wonderful day!!
Beth
I love this verse! 😀 What a blessing to memorize Scripture!
You go girl, great job.
Oooo, one of my favorites:
Psalm 119:11
I have hidden Your word in my heart
that I might not sin against You. (NIV)
I have a plaque on my home office wall of this Scripture. My Grandmother taught it to me as a child. I used to wonder how in the world can I hide the Word in my heart? That was something I learned later in life. And OOOOO how sweet His word is upon our hearts.
When I’m ready to blow my stack at someone who is really crawling up under my skin (no not me :)) is when I hear those words, “Lord I hide Thy word within my heart that I MIGHT not sin against Thee”.
