Today I link with Beth at the Power of Your Love to memorize God’s Word. Would you like to join us? If so, click HERE.
Last weeks memory verse was: It is good to praise the Lord and make music to Your Name, O Most High. Psalm 92:1 (NIV) Woo hoo, I did it! For some reason, I had a hard time keeping this very simple scripture in my mind. I started out with the wrong scripture last week (I mistakenly started memorizing Psalm 91:1 and I think it messed me up.)
Oh Friends, I just started reading a wonderful book that my friend Larie at My Heart Speaks just sent me. It is entitled “Created to be his Help Meet” by Debi Pearl. I am just at page 49, but there is so much to learn and absorb on each page! The reason I bring this up is because it is really dealing with wives having a JOYFUL, THANKFUL heart. It starts with making a practice of thanking God. I thought of last weeks scripture. Yes, IT IS GOOD to praise the Lord! YES, it IS GOOD to make music to His Name. I highly recommend this book to every married (or hope to be married in the future) woman!
Ok, moving on …
Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? (NIV)
Thank you Beth (there are a lot of us Beth’s on blogspot – ha) for doing this Meme! I really need the accountability.
wives having a JOYFUL, THANKFUL heart…..I will add,,as a mother also…This is what God has been placing on my heart…Thanks so much for sharing Beth. I will have to check that book out also.
I think I told you before but I actually started praising the Lord at a really long slow train and it ended up ending quicker than I thought. I was fighting the temptation to be mad so i decided to thank the Lord for all of His goodness and it just totally changed my heart.
Somedays I struggle more with having a joyful thankful heart than others. Thank you for the reminder to keep trying my friend! That’s a great verse for this week. Hope you have less difficulty getting it memorized :o)
Kudos to you for memorizing your verse for last week! How great! It’s a powerful one!
That book you mentioned sounds wonderful! It’s very hard, at times, to have a joyful and thankful heart when you find dirty socks on the floor, or your hubby looses himself in a football game and doesn’t take the time to really listen to what you have to say. However, those are the times when we need to turn it over to God…only He can change our hearts and our perspectives.
Great stuff, Beth! It is harder on certain days than others but it is all about choices and what we choose to do. Attitudes and gratitude start in our heart before they manifest themselves on the outside in words or actions. Our homes should be a safe, relaxing, pleasant place for our husbands to come home to…I will continue to try and improve daily with the Lord’s help.
Have a great day, my friend!
Good word! And no, I didn’t have to include pics with my recipes…I used them in the previous post! LOL
Love ya…
Two things you mentioned that resonated with me. Accountability and meditating on Scripture. How important they both are. In Bible study yesterday morning, we were discussing meditation. I think it’s important to meditate on Scripture so it will soak in and we might actually …apply it.
Some days I struggle with having a joyful much less a thankful heart but I praise God that he still loves me and can pull me out of it!!
Thanks for sharing and have a Happy Monday!!
Good memory verse…and so true! It helps me to remember to check my motives in the things I choose to do and say. God is good!
I don’t praise the Lord enough but am trying hard to improve that because when I do–what an amazing diffference it makes!!
Beth,
First, great scripture for this week…I just was teaching this to my Mom who was always saying we should ‘follow our heart’. Hopefully, she will hold onto this and follow the Word instead.
Next, the book by Debi Pearl is awesome, my friend. May you be blessed by it!
Big big hugs!
Great job, Beth!!!
And guess what my Small Group study tonight is about? Meditating on Scripture!!
Alright!!!
Beth
How many Beth’s are there???
Hi Beth. I’ve heard that Help Meet book is great. I have it but haven’t had the heart to read it yet.
I admire your desire to memorize scripture. I have always struggled with memorizing scripture that someone else gives me though. I have been able to do it but several memorized through Sunday School have stuck with me. However, I find it easier for me to memorize when it’s a scripture that screamed at me, my heart, or life circumstance. Otherwise, I would’ve joyfully joined one of the scripture memorizing groups for accountability. I’m hoping to inspire more accountability in my small group for studying, memorizing, and praying out loud.
Love,
Paula
