Our precious little Princess has gone to bed by herself two nights in a row! Hallelujah! This is wonderful!
She will be 5 in August and being our first child, we haven’t been forceful about her going to bed by herself. She is so tiny, we can still cuddle her like a baby and allow her to fall asleep in our arms. If she didn’t sleep while we were in the den, I would lie down with her until she fell asleep in her bed. You can imagine that this would sometimes drag out her 8am bedtime to 9 or 9:30 some nights. Yawn!
Well, two nights ago I tried using “peer pressure” on her. Ha. I asked her if she would like to TRY to go to bed by herself. She whined, “NOOOOO” as she quickly left the floor and landed in my lap. Hmmmm. I said, “I bet you are the ONLY person in your class who doesn’t go to sleep by yourself. If you ask them, I bet they all go straight to bed like big boys and girls.” Mwaa haaaa haaa haaa haaaaa (insert evil laugh). Hey, a Mom’s gotta do what a Mom’s gotta do!
She looked at me with those big brown eyes and I could tell she was thinking about it.
Then for the home-run hit I said, “You know, if you want a bunk bed — you have to be able to sleep by yourself. Mommy and Daddy can’t get up in the bunk bed with you. Only big girls can have bunk beds.” Again, insert evil laugh.
We went on with our night and suddenly Princess baby girl jumped up and said, “I think I’ll try going to bed.” That was it. Off she pranced and now this the morning after our second night! Hallelujah!
Since she is still asleep (7:12am) I was able to go out on my deck and 6:30am and spend some time with the Lord.
It is cloudy here, but I could see the sunrise peeking through breaks in the clouds. It looked so heavenly! I can’t imagine what God must seen when He looks down to earth. I can’t imagine how beautiful heaven must be!
Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! God is good!
Psalm 19:1-6The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is hidden from its heat.
Yay!! We just moved Ladybug into her own bed in her own room, but we still lay down with her until she's asleep. She'll be 3 in a couple of weeks. I love the snuggle time with her but it's nice to have hope that she WILL be able to go to sleep on her own someday.
I look forward to that cup of coffee & quiet time alone in the mornings again!
Awesome! Go Princess! And Mom – going green! Whole Foods gave us their bags at National Mom's Night Out. Perfect size and strong. And holds a. Lot! Mt.Man would be thrilled at your green work! He is the original recycler. Ask him at EatThisRecycleThat.com. 😉
Well done to both of you, coz I bet it was a little bit of a hard thing for you as well!
Just keep it up now and enjoy that you have more time to be for yourself.
You can make up for the cuddles during the day.
Congratulations! I use to lay down with a couple of my children as well. My almost 10 year old daughter is having issues of being afraid of the dark so if she wakes up she visits our bed in the night. Uggh, hopefully this will past soon!
I see a new bunk bed on the horizon…
Blessings,
andrea
God IS good and Beth is too! I'm thinking of hiring you when we start potty training for the second go round (insert evil laugh right here)!
Thankfully, Andrew has never had problems going to bed. We just put him in bed, say night prayers and walk out. I didn't even have to promise a bunk bed (insert evil laugh again)! Kidding with ya!
I warned my girls about this when they started having little ones. And they listened! They put them to bed on their own beginning when they are under a year old and it is so nice to be able to put them down at night and they are asleep in no time.
COngratualtions! You will have so much more freedom at night now!
Hooray for Princess! What a big girl! I know you are very happy. 🙂
Great news & she is so beautiful!
Awesome news.
Congratulations!
