Today we were near a place called Ashe County Cheese.  What a cool place!  They had EVERY type of cheese imaginable!  You can even watch them make the cheese.

Of course they had samples to enjoy and that is where my husband headed.  Our friend told us how much he LOVED their fresh cheese curds.  Curds?  What in the world?  Blech!  Isn’t that what Little Miss Muffet ate?
In the same “sample” section was a plate full of cheese curds.  My husband ate some and really enjoyed them.  He handed me a sample.  I sniffed it, sniffed it, and sniffed some more.  “Uh, I don’t know” I said.  “Oh just try it!  Tastes great!” he said.  Ok ya’ll after MANY years of not being able to trust him when it comes to food — I FELL FOR IT AGAIN!  I put that chewy — egg tasting, cold chunk in my mouth.  GAG!  IT WAS DISGUSTING!  So please, never bring me any curds.  (We did buy some for our friend though.)  Blech, blech, blech!
We left that location and headed to Tweetsie Railroad!  The weather was perfect and our Princess was MORE THAN excited!
When you ride the train, the cowboys and Indians put on some skits.  Princess climbed all over me when the cowboys started shooting their guns.  It was a lot of fun.
Cutest little cowgirl in the south!
Personally, I was forced to face a fear!
We were walking around when my husband said, “Let’s just take the chair lift up to Miner’s Mountain.”  “Uh, ok …” came out of my mouth before I really had time to process what taking the “chair lift” would really mean for me!
Oh my!
I would have taken a picture for your viewing pleasures if I hadn’t of been pressing my fingerprints into the metal of the lift!
Seriously, I got on that lift with my 5 year old and said, “Dear Jesus!”  I was praying and trying to breathe as I went up that mountain.  Ya’ll there was NOTHING to hold us in.  Nothing locked in place.  Of course my man was more than happy to heckle me from the chair behind us.  Waaaaaaaaa.  Princess was thrilled and wasn’t a bit concerned.
Mark 4:40

But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

I DID make myself take the lift back down to face that fear!  I should have ridden it a few more times until it was no big deal to me!  Riding down the mountain was a little better than going up, but if I ever go back — I’ve got a date with that chair lift!!!
I’ll admit the entrance fee to Tweetsie seemed really EXPENSIVE.  It was $22 for our child and $34 a PIECE for me and my husband!  Yes, it is true!  Just to enter was close to $100.  On the other hand, once you are in the gates you can enjoy their rides as many times as you’d like.

The employees were EXTREMELY polite and friendly.  You could tell this was expected of them.  It made our visit quite enjoyable!

Definitely a family friendly place!

My husband and I both visited Tweetsie Railroad when we were little kids and haven’t been there since.  I wish we had pictures of our adventures so that we could put them with pictures of our daughter.

If you’re ever near Boone, NC – you should check the place out.  (Tweetsie Railroad did not ask me to do a review — just letting you know what we did today.)
Here are some more pictures of our fun day.

Fun driving the boat and planes.

This is a picture of my man sending me some hilarious texts!  He wasn’t feeling quite as comfy up there as he thought he would.  lol

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone!
THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES FOR OUR FREEDOM!

Happy Memorial day!
