Since so many have been praying for my Mom to get home, I thought I’d share some of the details of what happened today.
I spent hours yesterday and today aligning schedules between several agencies to get my Mom home. She needed a hospital bed – CHECK- (thank you Hospice). She needed 24 hour care — CHECK — (thank you local agency). She needed to be discharged — CHECK (thanks social workers).
My morning was spent confirming discharge time and details of transportation …
I believed everything was on “GO” when my phone rang.
One of the CNA’s who was SUPPOSED to work at my parent’s house from 3pm to 11pm decided she didn’t want to drive that far. Well, LOVELY! It only went down hill from there. Trust me. I don’t even have words.
I felt so much pressure. My Mom was upset and blaming me for “putting her there” … everyone was looking to me for the answers. I thought I was going to explode, but God held me. Y’all, they were expecting ME to give my Mom shots. Uh, that isn’t happening. I had to draw the line somewhere. I don’t even have words to express my disgust towards all things medical like that. Nope, no way.
Anyway, even though I felt I was running into a wall in each direction, I believe God used it for His good.
Now my Mom will have an agency that can administer the daily shot to her (hallelujah) AND they have back-up nurses if someone calls in sick, etc …
As it stands now, my Mom will be heading home TOMORROW afternoon. I definitely don’t like wishing my life away. Each day is a precious gift, but I will be glad when tomorrow afternoon is behind me and I’m back home with my sweet little family.
I pray the transition goes smoothly.
Thanks for caring friends.
Nahum 1:7
The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.
((Hugs)) and continued prayers for you!
Hi Beth…sounds like quite a day. I will certainly be praying that all goes well for you tomorrow and you rest easy knowing that your mom is home and being very well taken care of.
God bless!
Trudy
Glad to hear the Lord worked it out despite all the apparent setbacks. Pray tomorrow will go smoothly. I don’t blame you about the shots…that would be a complete nightmare!
My <3 goes out to you for what you're going through. You were in a tough situation yesterday. Thank You Lord for working things out.
Wow, what an ordeal. Praying tomorrow goes well and you get your mom home!
Bless you Beth!!! You caused me to relive just a portion of what you’re going through….
Praying right now that God will continue to give you the strength you need….your task at hand is large….aren’t you glad you DO have a loving Savior who is right there for you? :o)
Prayers coming you way…..
~Beth~
Oh my gosh that’s so awful. 🙁 I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that yesterday. That would make me mad beyond words.
I hope everything goes smoothly for you too. *hugs*
With you in prayer and understanding. (Been at those points with my husband since I’m his caregiver.) Lord be at your side through all of this, to cover you and sustain you. ♥
I’m hoping things are falling into place nicely today! At least she doesn’t have to stay there forever…that’s the bright side. My Grandma has been in a nursing home since I was a soph. in college (and not just one – she has been moved several times for different reasons).
