Today we celebrate Then Sings My Soul Saturday, hosted by my bloggy friend Amy. Click here to find more posts.
This is a combination “Then Sings My Soul” and a blog that has been on my heart. Have you ever noticed how God is faithful to bring confirmations to us? This started a few weeks ago when I was led to a song that I shared on here. It is entitled SERVANT OF ALL, by Misty Edwards. This song just moved me deep in my core. We all have times when God speaks to us in the deepest places with His truth. This song inspired me to write a blog. Click here to read it if you’re interested. Here are the lyrics to this song:
I wanna be Your lover so show me how to go lower
For in the depths I will find You where You’re serving my brother
I wanna be with You where You are I wanna be with You wherever You are
I wanna be with You where You are You’re the servant of all
I’m in love with a king who became a slave
I’m in love with a God who is humble
You gotta go down if you wanna go up
And You’ve gotta go lower if you wanna go higher and higher
Well you’ve gotta hide and do it in secret if you wanna be seen by God
Cause it’s the inside outside upside down kingdom
Where you lose to gain and you die to live
This is where the “confirmation” part of this story comes in to play … bear with me. I have been listening to the song for WEEKS. I usually leave a CD in my vehicle and listen to it over and over until I can’t stand it anymore (ha). So trust me, I have heard these lyrics over and over. The phrase that keeps coming up around me is “You’ve gotta go lower if you wanna go higher and higher.” Last Wednesday night, our pastor did something different. After we spent most of the evening in prayer, he asked us to pair up with someone and prophesy over them. You can probably guess where this is going! My prayer partner said, “God is calling you to go deeper in Him. He wants you to come up higher!” Well, HELLO! Confirmation! Then last week I had a friend from Texas send me a prophetic word that talked about going deeper in the Lord and higher at the same time! THEN if that wasn’t enough, I received another email from a totally different source that shared the same thing!
In case you’re wondering why I shared a picture of an iceberg … this thought came to me this morning: Oh wow, an iceberg IS MUCH DEEPER than you realize before you even SEE IT GOING HIGHER! It is the quiet times with God that grow our foundation. It is the SECRET times with the Lord that grow what is under the surface — the places not SEEN. Hallelujah! That deep and big foundation must be built before the beauty above the surface can be seen! Have you ever noticed how beautifully the icebergs reflect the SUN? Just as we reflect the SON as we grow? I’m sure you get the picture.
So, here I am. I have finally survived the mad dash to buy presents, wrap, cook, visit … ahhhhh, now more time for the Lord. Please pray with me that I will go deeper and deeper with our Lord. For He is WORTHY of our time and admiration. Hallelujah!
I hope this made sense. God bless you all!
Love your TSSS – need to share a few songs on my heart myself this morning. It’s been awhile since I participated. My daughter loves Misty Edwards and I’m finally “getting into” her. It took me a while. Thanks for stopping by! PS – the rain is melting Mr. Snowman 🙁
I hate to admit this but I never even heard of Misty Edwards. But I’m glad you shared her music and words. In the Lord’s ways, it is upside down. So unlike the world, isn’t it? Time spent alone with Him in our prayer closet is well spent time. The days I miss my morning quiet time, I know the difference. And so does my husband. You have a soft heart that desires to grow in Him. May God bless you, my friend.
Beth,
I pray you had a blessed Christmas my friend. Your post made me think of a saying that my son’s youth pastor had imparted to him and it has stuck with him and my family….”when you are at a place where you don’t know where to go with a person or with the Lord…get as low as you can go…then get lower”. Then the relationship will soar!
Blessings to you today!
Awesome…
I love it when God sends a confirming word our way! Great post!
Wow…this lines up so much with things I have been thinking about, things He has been speaking to my heart about.
I’m gonna have to listen to this song again later!
You have such a beautiful heart for Him, Beth!
Sweet blessings to you as go deeper and higher!
Beth-the power of prayer takes us deeper-much deeper with Him. I am working on becoming a true women of prayer just for more of Him!
Blessings in this New Year!
In His Graces~Pamela
