Colossian 4:2 declares, “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
Iris shared thanks for the basics in life. I am definitely thankful for what some would consider the least little blessing.
We were watching a documentary the other night and my 3 year old understood for the first time that some people don’t have food. She kept saying, “Mommy, we need to pray for people who don’t have food.” I am grateful for her heart of compassion and prayer. So with that said, here is my list that doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of my thanksgiving.
- I am thankful that I can breathe on my own. My lungs receive the right amount of oxygen to keep me healthy and strong.
- I am thankful that my senses work and I can fully enjoy everything around me.
- I am thankful that I can walk, stand, and sit. Before God healed my back years ago, there were times when I couldn’t do those simple tasks without a lot of pain.
- I am thankful that I have food, heat, clothes, and shelter.
- I am thankful that I have a vehicle.
- I am thankful to still live in a land that is free, but even if that changes — I am free in Christ and nothing can bind my soul.
- I am thankful for my family and my friends.
I truly am a blessed woman.

Amen, Beth! Beautiful list of thankfuls today. It is a joy to see you are raising your precious little daughter up as a prayer warrior…they are our future in this country. If she has half the heart that her mommy does…she will be amazing and do great things for the Lord!
Happy TT!
We often take things for granted. I think it’s good to stop and recognize all we’ve been blessed with and then …thank the Lord.
Amen Beth! This one really spoke to me today:
“I am thankful that I can breathe on my own. My lungs receive the right amount of oxygen to keep me healthy and strong.”
I am thankful for his love. His love for me is the reason that I am blessed with so much. Good post.

Awesome list of blessings, Beth. Praising God for your little one’s compassion, and for your healing. I love the verse you shared – it’s my theme verse for the year! Happy Thankful Thursday!
I truly am a blessed woman
amen amen amen
Ya know, all the things you listed are a lot of times not even thought of, no less to even be thankful for.
It seems that we tend to think that those things are owed to us.
smooches,
Larie
Hi Friend.. Interesting post.. Keep up the good work.. Do visit my blog and post your comments.. Take care mate.. Cheers!!!
I am so thankful for so much today too. I was in tears yesterday. My oldest daughter helps in a special ed class at her high school. There was a new boy that started. He is a sophomore. When he was in junior high he was blinded in a car accident. She said he is very bitter about it and has parents who feed that bitterness. I don’t know what it was, but I was in tears immediately. I told Meghan that whenever she is beside this boy, to pray for him. He is a normal functioning child, but is now in a class of severely handicapped children. My heart is breaking over this.
GOodness, sorry about the heavy comment. I had meant to just stop by and give you a smile.
Glad my groping trauma made you laugh!
If you think of it, please pray for this little boy, his name is Billy.
Hugs!
I am thankful for all those things too. Great list!
Beautiful thankful list! Thank you so much for your prayers…
We are all so very blessed. I do tend to thank God for my health and just being able to get out of bed each day and to hear and see his creation. I honestly believe I learned this from my mom. I always heard her being thankful for these things and so I do it today.
Your little princess is precious and you have done such a great job teaching her. I pray that my little Andrew will always have a good example to follow.
So many things to be thankful for that many times we take for granted. You have listed several of those things. I am always reminded of how blessed we are for food, shelter and clothes every year when we go on a missions trip usually to a very poor country like Ecuador where children walk the streets with no socks or shoes and their feet are literally black. I’ll never forgot the time our teen age son went with us and when we came back and gave a testimony service at church, my son, who was 16 years old got up and with tears in his eyes said “I will never take my socks for granted again!” We are blessed! -love, Laurie
Such a wonderful list to be thankful for. To God be the glory. 🙂
