This is the day I link up with Iris at Grace Alone to share my gratitude to God for all of my blessings. But today, Lori at Lori’s Reflections is hosting for Iris.
Psalm 69:30 proclaims, “I will praise God’s name in song and glorify Him with thanksgiving.”
Philippians 4:6 declares, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Philippians 4:8 states, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
I started with scripture today BECAUSE of the experience I had yesterday. We experienced some snow here in the south on Tuesday. It was beautiful and my little Princess enjoyed it so much! However, as I was forced to get out on the roads yesterday (though the roads were mostly clear) and I found myself grumbling and complaining. I was ANXIOUS … not fearful of the road conditions, but the expectations/responsibilities placed on my shoulders.
CONVICTION set in and I immediately remembered these scriptures. So, with that said:
- I am thankful for my parents and that I am able to help them during this difficult time in their lives. It is a blessing and an honor.
- I am thankful to have my sight, that I can see the beauty of God’s creation all around me.
- I am thankful that I can smell the scent of snow and all of the wonderful aromas God has provided for us.
- I am thankful that I can walk, run, sit, stand — all on my own. I am independent.
- I am grateful that I have a sound mind and can function normally in society. There once was a time when panic and fear blocked me. Thank You Jesus!
- I am grateful that I have heat and hot water.
- I am grateful for all of the noise and toys scattered all over my house.
- I am thankful that we are so blessed that we have piles of clothes sitting in our room. We are so blessed that we don’t have enough storage to place it all. That truly is a blessing!
- I’m thankful to live in freedom.
- I’m thankful for my dear husband and precious daughter.
- I’m so thankful for Father God, Jesus, and my Comforter, the Holy Spirit.
- I’m thankful for all of you too.

It is so easy to fall into this grumbling and complaining attitude. I also found myself a lil unhappy camper yesterday about something.
I am glad that He loves us anyway!! and is patient with us. Hows that old song go…”He’s still working on me”…yep He is.

Oh Beth, the more I read your words …the more I love you. How often do we take for granted the senses that God has given us? I love how you wrote about your sight and smell, etc.
Wow; how cool to have snow! It’s been awhile since I’ve been in it though since I live in Phoenix. But I remember it wasn’t fun to drive in. I grew up in NY.
I know I wasn’t thankful for all the toys all over the floor yesterday. I try to remind myself someday those toys will be gone. Then I’ll be wishing they were all over the floor.
the scent of snow! I’ll close my eyes and just dream of it right now… okay, I’m back… does this describe it…
thick, yet truly light, and sweet?
This Florida gal can only imagine, but I tell ya what…. I love the smell of rain!

Such a GREAT list! How important it is to be disciplined enough to step back and review our blessings! I was studying through Romans recently, and I picked up on a truth that I should have already known … UN-thankfulness is the first step away from God! Sobering, isn’t it?
