Today I link with Laurie at Women Taking a Stand to share thanksgiving for our blessings! Today’s theme is courage. (Laurie, thank you so much for hosting us this month. You have done a great job!)
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you He will not fail you or forsake you.
What is the definition of courage?
Courage: Mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.
Psalm 27:14
Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage;Yes, wait for the LORD.
Isn’t it interesting that the verse above states to “LET” our hearts take courage? So does that mean it is a choice? Yes, I believe it is.
Isaiah 35:4
Say to those with anxious heart,”Take courage, fear not, behold, your God will come with vengeance; The recompense of God will come, but He will save you.”
Anytime I think of courage in the bible I think of the armor God has given us. If you read Ephesians 6, you’ll see all of the pieces of the armor: Helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, sword of the Spirit, shield of faith, belt of truth, and shoes of peace. These instruments are OFFENSIVE weapons — not DEFENSIVE. They don’t cover the back, but the front. It takes courage to STAND. You stand and face the opponent! Take courage my friends!
I am thankful for God’s Word!
I am thankful that we can allow courage to rise up in our hearts.
I am thankful in times when I want to run away, I know to STAND.
I am thankful for my family, friends, church, and all of my many blessings!

Terrific post!!! I love the focus on courage!!!
Great thought to encourage us all not to be defensive but offensives for the work of the Lord.

I’m putting my armor on and taking courage today!
Hi Beth! I never saw Ephesians that way, that those are offensive, and not defensive weapons!! What an encouraging post! If He is for us, who can be against us!
These are some great insights, Beth. Love the choice of courage that we have, and love that are weapons are offensive and not defensive. We often live too defensively, don’t we?
It’s time to STAND.
Great post. It takes a lot of courage to live in today’s world. I’m so thankful for the courage I get from the Bible, and the Holy Spirit. Thank you for the reminder.

Fantastic thankful post sweetie.
Beautiful post.
I am thankful that you pointed out “Let” in the scripture. WOW! It’s a choice that I have to make.
Thanks Beth!
smooches,
Larie
AMEN, SISTER!! PREACH!!
Thanks for the reminder of the armor of God, Beth. I used to mentally go through each piece in the morning but I’ve gotten away from that. Maybe I need to start that again. Hugs to you!

Awesome post, Beth! I loved your thoughts on courage and the Scripture that you shared. Happy Thankful Thursday!
Beth,
If I did not know better I would think God is teaching me how to have courage. HE has been speaking to my heart in so many ways.
Thank you my sister in Christ for sharing this ‘encouraging’ post. Bless you.
Hugs,
Bren
Enjoyed your post and the verses you used! Thanks for your insight!
Blessings Beth…Great BIBLE verses! Great thankful post!
Excellent connection to our armor used as an offense not defense!
Thanks for the strong reminder to STAND and the courage it takes!
Thanks for praying with me & for meas we stand against the enemy with the power of the Holy Spirit!
Bless you for the visit!
This is one of your best Thankful Thursdays ever!
I love those scripture verses and I love what you said here…
“These instruments are OFFENSIVE weapons — not DEFENSIVE. They don’t cover the back, but the front. It takes courage to STAND. You stand and face the opponent! Take courage my friends!”
It was a good reminder that I needed today. I am going to write these down and put them to memory and then when I need them they will be right on the tip of my tongue and written on my heart.
Thank you Beth;)
