Isn’t it amazing how photos can transport us back in time? I’m so thankful for the gift of pictures and technology (Thank You Lord)!
Part of me being WHOLE is everything from my past that pushed me to where I am. Much of my foundation was here … where this picture was taken:
This is a photo of me, my sister, and my cousin Jane. Yes, that is me in the stripes and braided hair.
This photo was taken at my grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary party. We were banished to the upstairs of their house to stay out of the way.
I loved my grandparent’s home. I was just telling my daughter (who is now around the same age as me in this picture) how we could ramble ALL THROUGH this house and all of my grandmother’s things and she never cared. I remember spending a LOT of time upstairs. She had 4 bedrooms and a full bath up there as well as a door that led up a flight of stairs to an unfinished attic.
Oh, what I would give to have pictures of the inside of this home. I would love to remember every detail!
This particular room in the photo above was where my grandmother kept her jewelry box and make-up (rouge with an overused smashed looking brush). She had all sorts of beads, broaches, and clip-on earrings for a young girl to adore. I thought she had a treasure chest for sure!
I’m grateful for sweet memories like this. Most of my sweet childhood memories were made in this home.
Luke 18:16
Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

Wonderful memories with such a bright future. Hi I’m your latest follower. Nice to meet you. If you could stop by me and possibly vote for me I sure would appreciate it. My hometown is having a contest of the Best dressed. Well, you’ll see it when you stop by if you get a moment. Thank you.
Awww….Beth, don’t you love those memories of years spent with the grandparents? I don’t have a whole lot about my grandparents since I was 7 when we moved away and with daddy being a preacher, we could not just go every weekend – had to be planned out…
but anyway – I do have some great memories of those times! Special!!!
~Beth~
What a sweet picture – and it reminded me of my grandmothers house. I grew up there – and I so miss the smells, the details, the sense of always – and we were allowed to ramble, but respect and be careful in the “parlor” – LOL.
I wanted to thank you for your encouragement, too. You bless me:) Wishing you a weekend of joy and blessing!
Thank you! I pray you have a wonderful weekend too!
Wow, as I read this I was taken back to my grandmother’s house and the four bedrooms I used to play in and be so enchanted by everything I saw and found! Thanks for stirring some positive childhood memories today!
Aww! You are all so cute! I love my grandparents home, and it always felt like “home” when we’d go visit! I can totally relate to tht feeling!! Great flashback, Beth!
Thanks Alicia. :o)
oh how it’s so true that our foundation in our childhood so carries over into the today! yet the amazing thing is that it can be so transformed into beauty. love that.
p.s. love the picture
Thanks Katy!
Howdy! Hope you’re having a great day! Ahhhh The 70’s! Those were my party years for sure! My cousin, and I use to go our every Thursday night. That was surely Girls Night Out! Woo Hoo! I’m your latest follower, nice to meet you. Love your walk down memory lane. I love Alicia’s meme I just don’t understand why she doesn’t have more followers. I think it’s a gas pulling out the oldie, but goodies don’t you? Have a great weekend.
It is fun pulling out old photos. Alicia use to have a LOT of people participating in this Meme when she first started. I ran out of old photos to share until I recently scanned a few more pics. :o)
My brother and sister were young teens in the 70s. The 80’s were my teen years. I look back at the way we dressed and wondered what we were thinking! Ha.
Oh such sweet memories. Your post made me to remember childhood days in my grandparent’s home. Love the picture.
Thank you Jamie!
Ohh i so loving the picture. I like looking at old picture like this. So real and no artistic thing done to the original picture which mean what you see is what you get. all real and genuine. Beautiful picture
Thank you! I love old photos too! I didn’t have many taken of me as a child so I cherish the few I have.
You look adorable Beth! And how fun to think back on the memories of the past, especially fun ones like this one.
Blessings and love,
Debbie
