For some reason I have been hearing the word FLAVOR the past few days. I thought this would be a great day to tie in a delicious recipe!
This recipe is FULL of flavor! It is all about flavor as a matter of fact. Ha. Before I started eating healthier, I had NEVER cooked with the spice cumin!
This is a Weight Watcher recipe, but don’t let that scare you away. :o)
Spiced Roast Pork:
Ingredients:
- 1 (1 1/2 pound) boneless pork loin
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 tablespoons apple-cider vinegar
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons grated lime zest (I think the recipe is better WITHOUT this ingredient!!!)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- Pat the pork dry with paper towels. Combine the parsley, vinegar, garlic, paprika, lime zest (yuck), cinnamon, cumin, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Add the pork and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours or up to 24. (Trust me — I usually marinate for a couple of hours and it is delicious.)
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Place a rack in a roasting pan and spray the rack and the pan with nonstick spray (just helps with the cleaning process).
- Place the pork on the rack and roast for about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Transfer the pork to a cutting board and let stand about 5 minutes. Cuts into 12 slices.
I hope you enjoy the pork!
Ok, my mind is going down little rabbit trails. As I ponder the word “flavor” my thoughts go in two different directions. My friend Much to Ponder at In Case You Were Wondering recently wrote a post that has really made me think about the way EACH of us are UNIQUE (click here to read her post). God created each of us to have our own FLAVOR, our own giftings, styles … our own way to reflect His love. Do you ever catch yourself wanting to “be” like someone else? Why do we do this?!?!?
The other direction “flavor” takes me is the path of “salt” scriptures.
Matthew 5:13
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.Colossians 4:6
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
I LOVE SALT! It makes such a difference with food, but it also makes a difference in the spiritual realm as well. We are even considered salt in this world. WE give flavor — we ARE flavor.
Just wanted to give you something to “chew” on (I know, I know — pardon the pun).
I love this post it’s very creative!!
A great posting!! And, that recipe sounds sooo good. thanks for sharing.
I love your blog and just signed up to follow you so you don’t get lost!! :O)
We had roast pork yesterday. That is the favorite of my dad-in-law. They like salt, too. I think I am the only one that don’t use salt on the food here in our house. 🙂
Thanks for sharing this wonderful receipe. I brought a pork roast yesterday, and I might try this receipe when I prepare it.
This recipe sounds delicious – thanks so much !

you are so sweet. No, it has nothing to do with how my blog looks. It’s just that I feel bad sometimes because it’s not more “weighty” or “inspirational” or “devotional” or whatever.
I like the things I blog about because I feel that it’s important to encourage one another. I want to encourage women in their marriages and in their homes.
I just wish I had more time to put more depth into it. Sometimes I am concerned about being too trivial and not focusing enough on the Lord.
Such a nice post, the recipe sounds really good.
First…yum to the recipe. I love the spice cumin…and I saw it in there. Not sure why, I just think it adds so much. Hmmmm
I love that we are the Salt of the earth too. Salt has so many great qualities…in addition to flavor, so we have a very important job being the salt!
Great post!
Excellent reminder that we are the salt and light of the world IN AND THROUGH CHRIST. I have often taught with the word “flavor” and we actually say it often in my house in different expressions.
Like the recipe! I happen to like Weight Watchers foods. You know I do WW online but I typically eat my own food although I have used some of their recipes.
Love ya.
I just joined WW today! I will have to try this recipe. It looks SO good! Thanks for sharing it.
Wow…you have some deep thoughts on here, girl! The recipe is one I’m going to have to try…sounds delicious.
The way you transitioned from food flavor to spiritual flavor was great! I liked the little pun, too. Your blog is a blessing to me. :o)
Have a great day tomorrow! We’ve gotten some snow. If we get about an inch more, I can stay home from work! Sorta praying that happens…this sore body of mine could use the time to rest! lol
Blessings…
Wow Beth, how creative the play of words here on this post and that recipe looks wonderful! So many seasonings. We are on the Daniels Fast right now so I will have to tuck that recipe away for the future.
Thanks for the comment on my post about writing our spiritual story. I hadn’t thought about sharing mine on my blog but now that you mentioned it – that sounds like a great idea. In the past I shared my personal story of how God reconciled me with my birth father and it was a great hit. Makes you wonder if people like to read about your past (ha ha) or read about what God has done? I like to rejoice about how God has made us overcomers.
So thanks for the idea about a future post.
-blessings, Laurie
See…you’re a funny girl too w/ your play on words! LOL! The recipe sounds good too!
Oh I MUST try this recipe. I’m absolutely addicted to rich full flavours, nothing bland for me!!!
I guess this is one of the reasons I so enjoy the Lord …. nothing bland about Him!
i have been accused of being salty LOL…great post and we are the spice.
I guess I missed it because it was embedded in this recipe. I needed to read the WHOLE thing to find what you were talking about. Thanks for the shout out over here. I appreciate you and the flavor you bring to the blogging world. You are one of a kind and precious:)
