Today I link with my friends at the Internet Cafe to share God’s Word with a photo.
Below is a picture of my hubby’s boots. I thought this scripture was fitting …
Isaiah 11:1-3
A green Shoot will sprout from Jesse’s stump, from His roots a budding Branch. The life-giving Spirit of God will hover over Him, the Spirit that brings wisdom and understanding, The Spirit that gives direction and builds strength, the Spirit that instills knowledge and Fear-of-God. Fear-of-God will be all His joy and delight. He won’t judge by appearances, won’t decide on the basis of hearsay. He’ll judge the needy by what is right, render decisions on earth’s poor with justice. His words will bring everyone to awed attention. A mere breath from his lips will topple the wicked. Each morning He’ll pull on sturdy work clothes and boots, and build righteousness and faithfulness in the land. (Message Version)

On another note, many of us (though I wasn’t home and didn’t feel it) in NC felt our first earthquake on Tuesday! You could feel the fear in the air yesterday.
We are now facing the threat of Irene. I am praying that hurricane Irene falls apart and goes out to sea. I speak peace into the winds of that storm in Jesus’ Name.
My opinion about all of this is: America better chose life and stand behind Israel. God loves Israel and blessed are those who pray for “her” peace.
Have a blessed Wednesday everyone!
I’ll be praying that the hurricane turns or breaks down! He is the mighty protector of all! It’s been a while since I’ve been to your site but I’ve bookmarked it now so that I can visit more often.
Thank you. I’d love to have you visit often. Bless you today!
I have a “weather friend” who said Irene isn’t going to be much, Lord willing that will be the case. Loved your pic & verse! Stopping by from WFW. Have a wonderfully blessed day!
I pray your weather friend is right. :o) Thanks for coming by! I pray you have a blessed day too!
It scared me so bad! I was sitting on my bed, and my entire bed started to violently shake, and everything on my entertainment system just about fell off. I got my little brother and ran outside. (Good thing I watched all those nature films and learned what to do right?)
I just pray we don’t experience anything like that again, and I pray Irene stays far enough away from everyone.
I agree with you, America needs an awakening, and turn back to God!
Bless your heart. I’m sorry it scared you. I’m glad you all are ok! (((hugs)))
As I read Matthew 24 and view the news headlines, time is running short. Of course, we don’t know the day or the hour but we must always be ready. Praying for you as this hurricane sounds fierce. Love the image and Scripture.
Blessings and love,
Debbie
Thanks friend! I’m praying it breaks apart and goes out to sea. Love & hugs!
That is an inspiring portion of scripture; the message translation adds another dimension.
We are planning to attend an event at my daughter’s church next Wednesday. Stand with Israel will encourage people of faith in their understanding of the America’s bond with Israel. Michael Rydelnik will be speaking.
Praying for you as the storm comes.
Praise God for the church event! Thank you for the prayers. I am praying the storm won’t come. Bless you!
Great verse. We did not feel the earthquake where I live, but my husband’s niece’s husband did. They live on the other side of the next town. However, when I was a little girl, I was sitting in church and we felt the tremor of an earthquake (that was a very long time ago) but I think I crawled under the pew. I remember how it felt.
Please pray for my daughter #1 in Virginia as she is not far from the coast and they did feel the tremor. My grandson is up thre also in college, daughter #2’s son.
Blessings to al all and have a great WFW.
Hi Alice. I do pray protection over your family. I am trusting that the hurricane will go back out to sea and fall apart.
Bless you!
Blessings Beth… AMEN!!! Praying and agreeing with you about Hurricane Irene and Israel with PEACE!
I was “shoot”…ing over here when the news came on speaking Hurricane force 2; and I stand with you that it will dissipate; power gone and God’s protection… but I caught this WFW in GR and had it saved to visit as soon as I saw ‘dem der boots!
I knew this had to be the Message… Love how you captured this so vividly and the emphasis. May the Spirit give us (and our nation’s authority) wisdom, direction and build strength as regards the root of Jesse and Israel. Putting on my boots but falling to my knees asking for God’s mercy and grace! Peace everlasting, righteousness, and faithfulness abounding in our nation as we PRAY in unity! To God be all glory!
Shalom,
Peace and love…
Peggy
Beth,
Fabulous verse and photograph pairing! I think I’ll look at work boots in a whole new way.
We are further north of the earthquake, but felt it as well. Scared some of our children – their first time feeling the earth move under their feet. Alas, it was not more than a few seconds here and no real damage here.
Praying safety for those in Irene’s path.
Thanks Dorie. I’m glad you were safe and I pray your children will have peace.
I really enjoy the translation of this scripture! What a wonderful way of making the Word so relevant to our daily life. Perfect visualization :0)
Beth! Keeping you and your family and all those in the path of Irene in our prayers…praying protection over the coast…
Keep us posted! We cherish you and your participation every week at WFW! Let us know y’all are safe!
lori
Thank you Lori. I appreciate your prayers for those in the path of the storm. I feel that we will most likely be fine, but God have mercy on the people on the coastline. Bless you!
Hi Beth – love the post. Thinking of all you on the east coast and pray that the storm will not do any damage.
I agree with you about Israel – if America ever turns its back on them, then God help us.
Blessings,
Joan
Thank you Joan! And yes, God have mercy on America. Love & hugs.
Love the photo and verse together! Great post!
Thank you Alida!
That verse really says that? Wow, perfect with the picture and I think I just told on myself that I haven’t picked up my Bible in quite awhile.
Ha. Don’t feel bad. It is the Message version which puts things in a really different language and light. :o)
That is so neat, Beth. You are very creative. Hugs ~
Thanks Cathy!
I got caught up in your comment about our country. We do need to support Israel. God blesses those who care for Israel.
Blessings,
Janis
Amen Janis. I agree!
