I was reading in 1 Timothy this morning and this scripture stood out to me:
1 Timothy 2:1
Here are my directions: Pray much for others; plead for God’s mercy upon them; give thanks for all He is going to do for them.
Paul makes it clear doesn’t he? We are called to intercede for others.
in·ter·ces·sion
noun \ˌin-tər-ˈse-shən\
1: the act of interceding
2: prayer, petition, or entreaty in favor of another (Merriam-Webster online dictionary)
1 Timothy 2:2-6
Pray in this way for kings and all others who are in authority over us, or are in places of high responsibility, so that we can live in peace and quietness, spending our time in godly living and thinking much about the Lord. This is good and pleases God our Savior, for He longs for all to be saved and to understand this truth: That God is on one side and all the people on the other side, and Christ Jesus, Himself man, is between them to bring them together, by giving His life for all mankind. This is the message that at the proper time God gave to the world.
Good Morning Beth! What a pleasure to meet you today. And what an inspiration to see your goal of Sharing the Hope of Christ. What more can we do for each other?
St. Paul is a very special favorite of mine, so I love the quotes from Scripture you give. Peace and Quietness…sounds great, doesn’t it? Our posts today really mesh together well.
So nice to visit 🙂 Have a great weekend!

Praying for others makes us take our eyes off of ourselves and our current circumstances. I love to intercede for others. Have a blessed Sunday!
Intercessory prayer makes such a big difference. I liken it to the effect of Aaron and Hur holding Moses hands up so they would win the battle. I’ve noticed that when we lost my FIL a few years ago – and just a few weeks ago when my husband’s twin sister died – that feeling of being carried, of being hedged in in front and behind – I think that’s because of those praying for us.
People have interceded in prayer for my children – and things happened, mountains were moved.
Thank you for this powerful reminder!
