Have you ever thought much about pearls? They are lovely, smooth, and considered a great treasure.
Did you know that a pearl begins as a foreign object in the oyster (like a splinter to us) that irritates and brings discomfort? As a defense mechanism, the oyster covers the irritant to protect itself. This is how a pearl is created.
Think about that for a moment. Something irritating (SIN) that is covered (THE BLOOD OF JESUS), becomes something beautiful and priceless!
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own,You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body. (Amplified version)
Jeremiah 29:13You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.
Proverbs 8:17
I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me find Me.
Have you ever sought the Lord?
Did you try praying a few times, but never really pressed in and continued the search?
He is a Priceless Treasure worth finding! You can’t survive without Him.
Are the irritants in your life causing you pain? Seek the Lord NOW and let the blood of Jesus cover that pain and start the restoration process in your life.
Matthew 7:7-8
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Don’t put this off …
I love your posts. They are a pleasing aroma to God. :o)
Bless your heart, Beth, for always sharing your deepest and innermost thoughts…and namely, your FAITH! 🙂
Beautiful reminder of what His redeeming work means! And yes, sometimes, I feel like I'm lagging seeking Him but that's a must for our growth. You just stabbed me with His sWORD but the BEST kind of hurt! God bless you sister.
I did know this about an oyster… But, I love the way you explained it, and the scriptures you used.I especially love this:
"Something irritating (SIN) that is covered (THE BLOOD OF JESUS), becomes something beautiful and priceless!"
Great stuff.
Thanks for encouraging me. Felt the hugs for sure :)…I will blog about my battle at work God willing when He wants me to. But grateful here for prayerful friends/sisters/bros….like you!
Sorry to hear bout your acquaintance…Lifer…is tough. But even tougher for his family. I pray God's comfort and strength will cover them all. It's never too late to change even inside the prison walls. God bless you sister.
Great analogy!!
Just a tidbit of random info: one day while in college, D and I went to eat at Mayflower on Capital Blvd. and I ordered oysters. Something nearly broke my tooth and that something was a little pearl.
