Do you ever start a project then halfway through you wish you hadn’t?
That is what usually happens to me when I start painting a room!
This time, it was a Spring decoration. An egg decoration to be exact — thanks to Pinterest!
I started with a balloon. Unfortunately, I didn’t do so well in finding an egg-shaped balloon.
I used Elmer’s Glue to secure the yarn to the balloon. There was just no easy way to do this without covering my fingers with glue. It was quite a messy job. FYI: I USED THE ENTIRE BOTTLE OF GLUE. I placed a thin layer of glue on the balloon to hold the yarn while I was wrapping it. Then I rubbed glue on the yard with my fingers once it was wrapped. (IF I am nuts enough to do this again, I may try to use some type of spray starch.)
This is what the yarn looks like wrapped around the balloon.
I allowed the glue to dry, popped the balloon, and then cut a hole in the front.
I wanted to decorate the inside of the egg, so I purchased this small plastic container to use as a “frame” for a nest. I glued Spanish moss on the outside and inside of the container.
My little idea actually worked out and it made a cute little nest!
I decorated the nest with a blue bird (that my daughter picked out) and some chocolate malt eggs.
I placed it in the egg, but unfortunately, I’m not thrilled with it. Sorry it looks kind-of dark in the egg — using my iPhone.
I decided to make a bow and place it on top. I think it added the finishing touch.
I also decided to make several small eggs to hang in my dining room.
Well, there you have it. My yarn eggs and all of their glue glory.
I love them all Beth. I just did a huge round ball….I may have to let some of the air out before I get too far along to make it look more like an egg!! haha Who knows what I thought I was making?~!@
