I haven’t participated in this Meme on a regular basis because basically I felt like I failed in this area. The only singing going on around here was me and my Princess worshiping the Lord! Seriously! But now …. yeah baby! I can sing with Nan and the rest of you! Woo hoo!
I have mentioned several times how the FLY LADY came to my rescue. Seriously, it doesn’t even make logical sense that cleaning a silly sink and making it shine would actually change my entire house, but IT IS TRUE. So, this is what I am doing this morning to make my house SING. Ok? Are you ready?
- I empty my dishwasher so that when my daughter eats breakfast, her dishes can immediately go into the washer!
- I make sure my counters are nice and empty, no hot spots are allowed (where clutter tries to gather)!
- I swish some soap around in my two commodes. Thanks to the fly lady, I have a crock full of soapy water sitting in each bathroom — which makes swishing very easy.
- I make up our beds.
- Start a load of clothes.
- I get my handy dandy Swiffer Sweeper Vac (my newest toy) and zoom through my house
That little list takes NO TIME at all and then my house looks ready for visitors.
It is crazy, but I hate to even allow water in my sink now. I immediately dry it out. When I keep my sink empty and clean, then the rest of my house just follows suit. Yep, that is how you’ll find my sink 24/7! Before, it would have had some dishes sitting around since the dishwasher would have been full.
The other day I had to baby sit a cute little baby boy for some friends. When they came to get him, they insisted on coming back in a few hours to watch our daughter so that my husband and I could go out. BEFORE fly lady, I would have FREAKED OUT. Seriously. You could eat off of my friend’s floor! Their house is immaculate. At least mine was decent. I didn’t have to do one thing but hop in the shower and get myself ready. Hallelujah!
My husband has been singing my praises and immediately noticed the difference in our home. Here is my goal:
Proverbs 31:27-28
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
Have a wonderful day and a VICTORIOUS week!
Praise the Lord!! I'm going to revisit Fly Lady today just because of you. Love ya!
Love it….great job!
Woo Hoo, you go girl!!
Girl: I have NEVER seen a sink sooo clean! WOW…I wouldn't want water to touch it either.
Hope you have a blessed week and GOD pours HIMSELF out to you and through you in new and profound ways.
Hugs, andrea
Beth, that's a beautiful post! 🙂 I love a clean sink and just scrubbed mine before bed last night, waking up to a sparkling sink just starts my day off right. 🙂
Rejoicing with you! Little things make such a difference in keeping a home. Yours is singing joyfully today! Thanks for sharing.
Beth,
I have meant to tell you this for a while now! I told you I got the Swiffer about 2 weeks or so ago. Well, everytime I used it I hated the way it scraped the floor and the sound was like scraping your fingers on the chalk board ~ DROVE ME CRAZY! BUT It sure picked the stuff up so I just kept going on with it. Well, Friday night I was doing some deep cleaning and I found these 2 little soft things that looked like they fit my Swiffer …..I am so embarassed to say ….they did! I used that sucker that whole time never puting those cleaning sheets on there!!!!! HOLY SMOKES…. NOW I can honestly say I LOVE THAT THING AND WELL, i am using it properly too 😉
sheesh….total embarassing moment here !!
I have to say I tried to have the Fly Lady help me, but was completely overwhelmed. Sadly, I feel I am losing the battle for an orderly home as I am busy wearing all of the hats I wear. I desperately need some help in this area!
I left you a blog award on my blog. I hope you will stop by to pick it up!
Hmm…I think I might be able to learn a thing or two from the Fly Lady! Your sink is spic and span! Yay for you!!! 🙂
Awesome! I don't do FlyLady but I have employed some of her methods. IT really is so much easier when you just keep on top of it, isn't it?
Oh you go, girl! That is awesome. I've had moments of stress finding out someone is dropping by, and moments of relief when someone drops in and my house is neat!
I am behind today. Got up and go school going but had to leave this morning for something. I'm back now and popping on the computer for about five minutes, then off to clean!
Thank you for joining in today, my sweet friend!
Confession here: I get the flylady emails, but have been ignoring them. 🙂 You have inspired me and I am going to actually open the emails and complete her tasks. Thanks!
Isn't it amazing how one little thing can cascade into big success and isn't amazing that we forget that as we struggle with challenges? We always imagine that a "huge" thing is needed, when really, we just need to tweak things. Glad to know you found your tweak!
I love when my house sings! And I enjoy flylady as well.. although I've tweaked things so much that I don't really follow her anymore… just do my own thing which is similar to hers. I love your shiny sink, btw! I just shined mine again this morning! 🙂
Good for you. That is awesome. That sink looks great.
Yay! Another Flybaby! This would be a wonderful testimonial…you should send it to FlyLady. Way to go on blessing your family by blessing your home.
I really enjoyed visiting your blog. Your weight loss testimony is inspiring. God Bless You, Bob West
