Haven’t we all heard the saying, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover?” Ha! Well, the same can be said about closets, drawers, and REFRIGERATORS! This silly blog is the result of a conversation between me and my friend Momstheword. She wrote a blog about her fridge being a road-map of her life. My old fridge was a masterpiece of many pictures, favorite scriptures, magnets, and even some beautiful cards that friends had given me over the years. All of that changed when we remodeled our kitchen and went with stainless steel. However … the inside isn’t so neat and shiny. Ha.
This prompted me to show Momstheword some of the hidden treasures inside! Ok, here is your chance … if you have a weak stomach, turn away.
Oh look! Yummy “homemade” cookies that Sarah and I made for some friends. Ok — so they aren’t homemade, but they were cooked at home.
Next we have the soup (yes, homemade) that my mother-in-law made. Here’s the problem. We left it in the fridge too long (instead of freezing it — shhhh, don’t tell her!). I want to just throw the entire jar in the trash, but I am going to have to dump the soup outside and wash the jar. So what is it doing? SITTING ON MY TOP SHELF STILL!
Ok, now this is scary! My husband put this on a shelf a couple of weeks ago. I THINK it is some sausage that someone made. No, it isn’t cooked. And yes — someone made it for him — fresh. However, at this point — it might need to go in the trash.
We can’t forget the left-over Chick-fil-A nuggets that my daughter left behind. THIS IS THE ONLY MEAT MY CHILD WILL EAT! Yes, it is true.
Ok, I am ashamed to admit this but you are seeing some frozen, frost-bitten, freezer-burned, ice ruined chicken wings. My friend Tom cooked the “companions” to these wings a year ago and put these extra wings in my freezer. I hate to throw away food! But I can assure you that I will never eat them. I guess I should thaw them and give them to the outdoor cats.
Hmmmm. Okra? They look like they are hanging on fairly well!
Can’t miss the yummy sweet potato pie!
Yes, you see it. Coca Cola! I was once a Coca-Colaholic! These were purchased BEFORE June (when I stopped drinking soft drinks). My husband is slowly going through the case.
So, I guess I should show the complete MESS inside my refrigerator. Oh dear, this is humbling. But what’s a little mess between bloggy friends, right? Jesus loves me anyway. Ha. Ok, don’t faint …I can barely squeeze one more thing in this freezer. Sigh … but what do I do with this stuff? Most of it is stuff my MIL has brought us. Oh dear …
Love it! When I lived with my sister we had a lot more unwanted food in the fridge, but now my husband eats ALL the leftovers, even if I’m getting suspicious of their age. And I’ve only lived here 2 months so I don’t have anything that exciting to show… yet.
That is too funny! I just went thru my fridge today and pitched stuff. I had stuff from Turkey Day and some stuff I’m not sure about. The only reason I got a kick in the butt to do it is because Christmas will be at my house. We will need some major fridge space. Merry Christmas!!!
Funny…that could be my fridge. Since I skipped the science projects in school, I’m making up for it! ;O)
P.S. Did you get a dishwasher in the remodel? Your D.H. told me at the last reunion that he didn’t have one. I was betting that now that there is a little one around, things might have changed. :O)
I love your sense of humor! My fridge looks similar inside and the front of mine is wood so I can’t hang pictures or magnets on it either. And you and I both have the same bangs; love it! You are too cute.
Um, I have to admit…that liquid sausage made me throw up a little in my mouth…lol.
I find “hidden treasures” in my refrigerator all the time!!!
BTW, I love the stainless steel appliances. :o)
That is too funny! It looks just like my refrigerator! Well that is except the outside. I still have the roadmap that momstheword was talking about :o) BTW, isn’t she a great blogging friend!
Hahahaha! I loved it. I could give you a pretty scary tour of mine too, girlfriend! That’s why I try and sort thru it every Wednesday to toss any “science experiments” but haven’t done it lately…that’s why it’s so scary.
My mom gives us food too. Most of it we never eat so we either give it away or toss it (if we forgot about it).
Beth, you’re one of the most inspirational people people I know, and I love you for being so real … just looking at those pics and I feel as If I was chating in the kitchen there with you.
I decided to give you the ‘Being Real’Inspiration Award. Please collect it from my page.
🙂
This is great. I am ready to fry up that Okra and dive into that Sweet Potato pie… those are the two tell tale signs you are in the south, my dear!
Maybe I will do this… but then be ready to be afraid… oh so afraid.
You are a very brave lady! Not sure I’m ready to open up that much for the bloggy world to see. Thank you for sharing – I love the expressions!
