Today I will write for 5 minutes. I won’t critique or edit my thoughts that flow within the 5 minutes. The brilliant Gypsy Mama came up with this idea. I’ll be joining her today to discuss the topic: REST
START: 5:20
I keep thinking of the scripture that states, “Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31). I know that doesn’t use the word REST, but that is where my mind went. Waiting on the Lord … resting …. resting in the Lord. They all tie in together in my mind.
I can honestly say the MOST relaxed I have been in my adult life was the month before my daughter was born. For the first time since I married, I took a WEEK vacation. (My husband only does 2 to 3 day vacations.) Yep, I left him at home and went with girlfriends to the beach for 7 days! None of us had to serve anyone. We sat under umbrellas on the beach, worshiped God, read, and listened to music from sun up to sun down. It was heaven on earth.
It was during that week that I saw two of the clearest visions I have ever seen in my life. I have only seen 3 visions that have looked like I was peeking through a window. Two of them happened back to back while I was SO RELAXED and STILL.
Be still and know that I am God.
I guess there is a reason God needs for us to be still.
Anyway, it was then that I saw two very important visions that I have held onto TIGHTLY since 2005. I do believe they will be coming to pass in the next year.
Rest often escapes me. I mean TRUE rest. I am so busy caring for others that I rarely take time for myself. The only “me” time is when my family is asleep or when you see me on here. Other than that, my life is shared and pulled upon. (Like most women I’m sure.)
God needs for us to be still. There is rest in the stillness. There is revelation in the stillness. There is obedience in the stillness.
STOP: 5:25

I am not very good at being still. i have neglected to really rest lately. Thankful for these reminders to do so today. Bless you, friend.
Just coming by, returning the visit and follow! Thanks for visiting. Love your faith filled blog! ~ jen
It’s hard for me to be still. To just sit and rest in His presence. But when I don’t, I have a hard time hearing Him. “They that wait upon the Lord”. May He continue to teach us to rest and wait on Him!
What a beautiful post, hold onto those visions they are precious. I love the verse to be still, it is really special. Thank you for encouraging me, have a great weekend, N
Still is not what I am good at but I am striving for that quiet time in the morning before my children rise for the day! It really is a chance for renewal and reconnect with God! and such a great way to start the day!
Thank you for this reminder to continue striving for time with Him!
Oh I so agree, without my quiet moments with Jesus I would be useless and needy. Wonderful picture of rest, now I want to go away with girlfriends!
Hi Beth!
Please tell more about the farm. How did opening go?
My posting took a similar ending although from a different direction(?) too; and I didn’t get to it until dinner time, am reading others this morning (playing catch up).
Today is Sabbath rest here, and I think besides taking them to miniature golf, we’ll hit the beach at least for a bit.
Blessings!
Opening day is happening right now. :o) So far so good.
Bless you!
Beth
Oh, yes, resting is peace and obedience. I love that Isaiah verse, too. Good five minutes!
