Ok, so it isn’t snowing HERE (yet), but it is for my blogging buddy Billy Coffey! He just published HIS FIRST novel entitled: SNOW DAY
I have enjoyed getting to know Billy through his blog (What I Learned Today). He is quite a character and I LOVE his God-given talent! I am always in awe after I read one of his posts.
When I first “met” Billy, I believed everything he posted was what he had experienced — THEN I guess the Holy Spirit finally gave me a clue. I probably made a nut out of myself when I first started leaving him comments. But being the awesome writer that he is — he never let me know what was fiction and what was fact. (Probably chuckling at me crying over his stories!)
When I found out he had published his first novel, I knew I would love it! I was right!
Billy, in his generosity, sent me a signed copy of his novel! I was like a child at Christmas when I opened the package!
Billy is so reflective in his writing style! I almost feel like I’m listening to the narrator of The Walton’s. Do you remember that sweet show from the 70’s/80’s? Seriously, Billy has the gift of pulling you right into his stories — tugging at your heart strings the entire time. Since I have a sense of “knowing” his personality (at least what he has shown in cyberspace) I could envision him as his main character in this novel. I can also relate to his southern humor since I am a native southerner myself. (Don’t worry, non-southerners will love this novel too!)
Everyone can relate to the main character, Peter Boyd (aka Billy to me!). He shares his struggles and his “ah-ha” moments with the Lord. (His epilogue made me want to cry!)
I don’t want to give away ANY information about the plot, so I won’t say too much.
I will say that I was SAD when it ended. I wanted MORE. THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT HE DIDN’T WRITE ENOUGH. This is how I feel when I read a Francine River’s novel too. I get so wrapped up in the character’s life that I don’t want the story to end.
If you’re interested, let me know. If you post about my giveaway, I’ll put your name in twice. In a week or so (when I get a chance) I’ll pick the winner by using Random.org.
If you win, you WON’T be disappointed.
You can visit Billy’s web site HERE.
Awww Beth, this was wonderful and touching to read, thank you for sharing. Blessings.
I am a sucker for a good book! One of those kinds of books that I sit on a cold winter day curled up with cup of hot tea or cocoa, my favorite blanket and a book that just makes me feel a part of the story. This sounds like ONE of those book! Your so kind!
I agree…Billy is such a talented writer who knows how to get to the heart of the matter. I would love to be entered in your giveaway! 🙂
What a great review, Beth!
And Peter probably should be Billy to you, because before Snow Day went from a memoir to a novel, he WAS Billy.
His next novel will be out next November, and it's a great one.
I already won a signed copy, thanks 🙂 And I JUST finished it today. Great read!
I'll add my recommendation to the mix 🙂
Sounds like a neat read!!
Please enter me in your giveaway…I would definitely enjoy reading Billy's book!
I would love that—I'm on my way to his blog right now!
Beth, you are such a giving person! And you are a gifted writer in your own right! May the Lord bless you!
I would like to be entered in the giveaway! It sounds like just the sort of book I'd love to read. When my husband and I were together and traveling all over the country for the Navy, we found the South to be one of the most peculiar and interesting places! That is where I saw fire flies for the first time, and I will never forget it!!
Thanks,
Carrie
I have it on my Christmas list, hoping I've been a good enough girl this year, HA!
….can't wait to finally read it!
But you can't also put me in your giveaway too! WOOT!
