My friend Much2Ponder tagged me. Tis the season — enjoy!
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Hot Chocolate! Anything chocolate actually. Ha.
2.Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Big presents are left out in the room while other presents are wrapped under the tree. (I have to confess though – I haven’t told Sarah about “Santa” – though others have. Her Dad and I aren’t in agreement in this area, so I’m kindof floating on this one for now.)
3. Colored lights on house/tree or white?
It depends on the year. The colored lights remind me and my husband of our childhood, but this year we went with all white. (No lights on our house.)
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
No. I haven’t done that in years.
5.When do you put your decorations up?
I usually begin the day after Thanksgiving.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
Turkey and stuffing!
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
I think all of my Christmas memories as a young child were magical. The lights, the tinsel, the nativity scene, the Christmas cartoons — a paradise for a kid. :o)
8.When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I don’t remember. I guess I just figured it out when I got old enough.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
No. Always Christmas morning.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
All different types of ornaments. This year, I was in a “gold and white” mood. :o)
11. Snow. Love it or dread it?
I love snow, though I rarely get to see it.
12. Can you ice skate?
Well, I could when I was a pre-teen. That was the last time I tried.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
I think one of my favorite gifts as a child was a Honda CT 70 motorcycle. As an adult, my engagement ring.
14. What is the most important thing about the holidays to you?
The birth of Jesus and having my family around me.
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Sweet potato crusty (though I’m avoiding that kindof stuff now).
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
I don’t know that I even have a holiday tradition. Now that our daughter is 3, maybe we will start some sweet traditions. This year we made a gingerbread house — so maybe that will be our tradition.
17. What tops your Christmas tree?
Usually a bow, but this year a white and gold star.
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?
I love to give!
19. What is your favorite Christmas song?
I love all of the old Christmas hymns, but “Mary Did You Know” is one of my favorites if I have to pick a newer song.
20. Candy Canes. Yum or Yuck?
Yum!
21. What do you want for Christmas?
I want peace for my family, this nation, and this world. Since I live in America, I want it to be a Christian nation for the sake of my child/children.
22. Do you attend an annual Christmas party?
Not really.
23. Do you dress up for Christmas Eve or wear PJ’s?
What a strange question. LOL Well, I dress up if I’m going to a party … otherwise, jeans, or PJ’s if night at home. Ha.
24. Do you own a Santa hat.
Hmmm, maybe. I think I bought one for my hubby when he drove in a parade a few years ago.
25. Who do you normally spend Christmas with?
My little family does “lunch” with my in-laws, then supper with my family.
Now it is my turn to tag some friends:

Beth,
I learned so much about you from this award, and we have alot in common!
Thanks for your visit earlier and I wanted to tell you that I have a son overseas and you are right it is difficult. This is my first Christmas that all of my kids will not be with me. 🙁 But God is with him, just like the story of Jimmy Stewart…He is GOD WITH US! -blessings, Laurie
Beth,
I enjoyed learning more about you. Happy Friday, sweet one.
((hugs)) to you!
You’re turn. Come to my page to check it out.
Hi!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! I love the picture of you and your sweetie in your sidebar! So sweet!
And I thought it was funny that one of your favorite Christmas gifts was your engagement ring…since my engagement ring was what I had just posted on, too! 🙂
Blessings,
K 🙂
Hello precious sister Beth from NC,
Thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog! I’m so thankful to know that God blessed you through what He taught me. And yes, I’m a silly dictionary girl…still am. 🙂 What can I say, I love words…and like you, particularly God’s word. 🙂
We were where you guys are with Santa. We told our first child there was one, then at age 5 we told him the truth b/c other kids already knew and we didn’t want them to think that we would ever lie to them and embarrass them. So we apologized and never then taught him and our younger son about the true Santa that lived and Who he believed in…Jesus. 🙂
But we told our son not to correct other kids b/c imagine how awful he would’ve felt finding out from friends, instead of his parents. We told him it’s for each parent to teach their child. He agreed and never corrected another child about it. 🙂
Now, our boys are 16 and 13 1/2 years old and still remember that and are grateful for it. Till this day, they trust anything we say over anyone else b/c they said they know that we would never lie to them, no matter what.
I hope this helps you and your husband choose what’s best for your sweet daughter. Not saying our way is the only way, but just sharing another option. 🙂
Bless you dear sister,
Sunny
