Psalm 68:4
Sing to God, sing praises to His name;
Extol Him who rides on the clouds,
By His name YAH,
And rejoice before Him.
Over the years I have taken great comfort that God was stronger than the storms. As a child, my caregiver would make me and her granddaughter sit in the corner of a room when a storm came. Her reaction to storms created a great fear in my life. But this scripture defused a lot of it.
If my God is riding upon the clouds, doesn’t that speak for storms as well?
As I was looking for the scripture that originally planted this belief in my heart, I discovered that some of the translations actually read that He rides through the DESERTS instead of on the clouds. Hmmm. I found out that the Masoretic Text reads deserts, but the Targum reads heavens. Click HERE to find out what this means on Wikipedia.
Back to my original thoughts though …
God’s viewpoint is above the clouds no matter what version or scripture we read. We know that from His perspective He sees it all and He sees what is ahead of us.
Here, under the clouds – even under the storms of life, we have limited vision. It is only through being connected to Him that we can move safely through the obstacles and traps plated before us.
We need God’s heavenly perspective and view.

I like what you said here: God’s viewpoint is above the clouds no matter what version or scripture we read. We know that from His perspective He sees it all and He sees what is ahead of us.
You’re absolutely right!!
Thank you for this word today.
I remember being on an airplane that was going through turbulence. Once the pilot was able to fly above the storm, the ride was much smoother. I thought of the point you are making. His viewpoint is above the clouds.
blessings and love,

Debbie, that’s a great analogy!
I love this vision this post paints of the Lord, riding the clouds. It really gives a whole new perspective. I think of Him, being seated at the right hand of the Father; Him, far upon the hills, where I look for my help; Him, whose train fills the temple. I must keep my eyes fixed on Him, and ask Him to give me a heavenly perspective for all things.
God is with me through each trial. He sees from above and is with me below. That’s my God!
