Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Isn’t it sad how this holiday is plowed over like a bump in the road? Most stores have already decorated for Christmas and we have already sold some trees (even though our tree lot officially opens today).

How did you celebrate this holiday? I spent part of my Thanksgiving day decorating my parent’s house for Christmas while they were at my sister’s house eating dinner. I arrived at their home after they got on the road and I knew each second would count. I was on a race against their schedule! I hurried to the back door and COULD NOT FIND THEIR DEAD BOLT KEY!! I looked everywhere for that key and it was gone. Thirty minutes of valuable time — wasted! Finally, I had to make up some crazy “I need a big cooking pot for turnip greens” scheme to find out the location of a 2nd key (ha). I worked several hours, but still didn’t finish. I will have to complete my assignment today.

After rushing home, I cooked two sweet potato casseroles and one big squash souffle for my sister-in-law’s (Luanne) Thanksgiving meal. I was a little anxious about the souffle because I doubled the recipe. When I placed it in the oven, I set the cook timer and moved on to my next dish. After a good bit of time passed, I realized the “timer” didn’t set! I had no idea what time I started cooking the souffle (talk about stressful). Something like this never happens when I’m just cooking something for me and Boaz. Oh well, I watched it until the edges were brown. It must have been good because I got a lot of compliments and I only have a little square left in the dish. (I didn’t eat any because it was full of butter and flour.)

We had a nice visit with community people at Luanne’s house. We never eat with just family on my husband’s side of the family when Thanksgiving rolls around. There are several couples who always get included. All of these folks live around us, and all of them go to the same church (our old church). We had a nice visit and Princess had a ball playing with her cousins (even though they are much older)!

Be sure to thank God for all of your blessings – no matter how small.

Happy Thanksgiving!
