Ok, so I will try to present this without complaining. I’ll just state the facts.
1. I have a cell phone.
2. I have had cell phone for a while and would like to upgrade.
3. My contract runs out in MAY!
4. I have been with this company for many years (actually I was with the company that they “merged with or purchased” for many years).
5. I have had several upgrades with this company over the years.
6. There is no such thing as honoring faithful customers anymore. (Wait, that sounded more like a complaint … sorry.)
7. This company that starts with a big S will not let me upgrade now (unless I want to be penalized $200 for breaking my contract). Even though I want to stick with them AND use one of their phones.
8. This company also wants to charge me $600 for the Blackberry Curve on TOP of my $200 penalty.
9. Oh, and in case you were wondering, I would LOSE my cell phone number.
10. I dislike this policy and wish I could express my disdain with the S company.
For those who have been my friend for a while may remember that I asked people many months ago about cell phones. See, I didn’t just hop into my decision. Now my hands are tied.
There. I presented the facts and tried not to whine. I’ll let you know how it works out.
NEWSFLASH!
Before I could even post this, my husband took care of it! He called the S company and put his foot down. (You go Boaz.) I love it! I love the way he just took care of me. Yay. The S company worked it out so I could get an upgrade. My Blackberry Curve is coming this week. Thank you dear Boaz! I will have unlimited texting and Internet. Woo hoo! What a man! This wonderful man of God really does walk in FAVOR. (Thank You Lord.)
Good for you and what a great man you have! I'm with S company too and I hate the 2 year contract. Anytime we've upgraded phones, they start the 2 year contract all over again!! Our contract is up in December so we'll see.
Maybe all cell phone companies have the same contractual agreements. Don't know but I'm not a fan!
My DH worked w/ N b/4 the merger w/ S. We had enough of them throughout the merger that we went to V, so I'm not surprised. WTG "Boaz"!
That is awesome news Beth. So glad your hubs took care of you.
Ya for hubby!! The cell phone company I have dealt with for over 9 years as come to 'know' me quite well. Since I worked for AT&T, I know how some reps can be. So after the initial greeting, I will tell them,' read the notes please'..After each and EVERY call I make I ask for the identification number (this will confirm the rep HAS made notes of our conversation). Just last month I was so upset with them because a rep gave me wrong information on a rate plan, which was going to cost our family TONS of money because of her mistake. I was close to cancelling. Pay the 250 to cancel and go somewhere else after all these years. Everything got resolved, praise be to God.
I can be very frustrating can't it.
So glad that this had a HAPPY ending…thanks to that wonderful hubby of yours, right? 🙂
It is very frustrating. I hope your hubby can work it out, b/c what they told you was a big fat RIDICULOUS!
Blessings, andrea
I have had the worst luck with my cell phone company! So glad you were able to get your problem fixed.
Drop by my blog when you get time. I left you something on my last post:)
Your Boaz rocks. I love when they sense how important something is to us and then MAKE it happen. That's heroic, isn't it?
Wow, you have a knight in shining armour! My husband has a little old cell phone that has the voice option, so he just has to say the name…and I have the same phone, but don't know how to do anything except punch numbers! A blackberry scares me to death… I hope to break free from my fear some day…I know I'll be left out in the cold if I don't keep up, but until then, I like to KISS (keep it simple, stupid)…that seems to work best for me and my guy!
God bless, and so happy you got it all worked out!
Mary
Way to go Boaz!!! I am so happy for you. A new cell phone is almost as good as a Hersey's with almonds, lol.
Now you will be addicted just like me. It is a little obsurd that I am checking for messages in the middle of exercises!!! 😉
Good job hubby. Mine is the same way…takes care of me so well. The Lord knows who we need.
Woo Hoo, go Boaz.
yeah Boaz…I'm with A (formerly C) and they don't mind giving you an upgrade early…you just renew your contract another 2 years.
Glad that things worked out. I wasn't able to upgrade my iPhone to the 3GS because of my contract. Bryan was able to because his contract runs a year apart from mine. I'm jealous…my contract doesn't run out until May. I think it's all just a money racket!
