Tonight Pastor Brian Diver read Mark 5 and 6. He told us from the beginning he was going to read out of the New Living Translation which pointed something out that my NIV wouldn’t have.
Mark 6:41-44
Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, He kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftover bread and fish. A total of 5,000 men and their families were fed from those loaves!
I know that the statement “as much as they wanted” referred to the food that filled their stomachs, but I felt like the Holy Spirit began to speak to my heart: We can have as MUCH as WE WANT of the Lord.
Isn’t that the truth?
Matthew 7:7-8
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
So many people accept Jesus as their Savior and barely move a step forward. I know Christians who were saved and baptized in water, but have yet to pick up the Bible. They don’t know how to pray or hear from the Lord. They don’t desire a further surrender to the Holy Spirit.
Deuteronomy 4:29
But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find Him if you look for Him with all your heart and with all your soul.1 Chronicles 16:11
Look to the LORD and His strength; seek His face always.Isaiah 55:6
Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.
Isaiah 6:1-3
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”
Revelation 3:15-16
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
We can have a happy meal or we can have a Banquet!
You know, we think we want "control" but really, it's just so much better to let Him be in charge! I'm so glad I can trust Him to do what's best for me.
Good post, Beth. For many years I knew Jesus as Savior, but not as Lord. The more I know Him the more I want to know Him.
Have a blessed day.
Yet another lesson well-taught by YOU! Thanks, my friend!
a very "full" and interesting blog, which means life I bet.
Take care and God bless you

Amen my friend! I want to know Him more! Praise God that we can have as much of Him as we could ever want and then some. I lived that lie for a long time…going through the motions and believing that was all that was needed…oh the blindness! Now I live fully for Him and have never been happier!
A great post Beth…God bless your day!
Amen, you Go Girl! The only time it is appropriate to be greedy is when it's for more of God! I want all He has for Me. I love what you said, "hot pursuit."
Girl…hubs and I were just talking about this last night. Thanks for posting. I needed to read this and I might just have to let him read it too.
Hugs,
Mimi
I want more, more, more of Him. I want to be filled with Him.
What an awesome point in this story!! Eat as much as we want of Jesus! The more the better! And the sweeter our life will be. 🙂
Amen!! I totally agree! Church on Sunday shouldn't be where we get our "meat," but where we come also to fellowship. We should be reading the Word daily. You can't have a prayer life without reading the bible, and vice versa.
That came out wrong, because we do get meat when we go to church on Sunday, but you know what I meant..lol. I should say it shouldn't be our only source of meat.
I want to know Him better and better and to have all that He has for me. My relationship with the Lord is truly the most important in my life!
That was beautiful, Beth. You'd make a fine Southern preacher!
God's Word is a wonderful part of my life and I stand on His promises daily.
I want to thank you Beth for such an uplifting message from God's Word. I really needed to read this, this morning. God bless, Lloyd
What a wonderful post; and how true! It was a liberating moment when I realized Jesus wanted me to follow Him in a relationship and that being a Christian was so much more than just a religion.
Thanks for your inspiring words, and have a great weekend!
"…if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord is good", 1 Peter 2: 3. Nothing else will satisfy!
Thank you for these words of wisdom. I've got some work to do in this area.
Have a nice weekend,
Nannette
