I am linking with sweet Alicia at More Than Words to share a pre-digital photo. This week, I wanted to share a picture of my husband when he was about our daughter’s age. He was sick and his Daddy came by during the day to check on him.
You can see his father’s love for him. I’m sure you agree this is a sweet picture.
And of course, NOTHING has changed as far as my husbands love for stinkin’ animals in the house! Look at the arrogant body language of the cat. His “behind” is in my husband’s face and his ears are slightly tilted back as to say, “You’re bothering me!” Since my husband always had pets in the house, we had to have a nasty cat (who kicks his litter everywhere)! Ok, really — I’m trying not to be bitter. Cats are creatures created by God, right? Ok, back to the photo.
My father-in-law died suddenly in 1996. He died 13 years ago this month. I know my husband really misses him.

Do you know your daughter has her daddy's eyes? I just think it is amazing how the Lord brought you all together.
this IS a beautiful picture…I couldn't stand it when we had cats and they did the same thing with the litter,,or even better,,as soon as I cleaned the litter, they would go in there and make a complete mess..GRRR..lol. I do miss having them, but not the litter, nor the fur. I'll just keep pretending my toy poodles, one 6 lbs and the other 7 lbs are little kitties,,LOL
Beth,
What a great picture. I love the softness it shows. So sweet. How cool that you have these great memories.
Hugs,
Mimi
That is so incredibly sweet!!!!!! Priceless photo!
what a great photo and story and i am cracking up with the cat thing
Is the cat just trying to clean it's own litter box out maybe?
smooches,
Larie
What a sweet photo! I'm with you on the cat thing! My husband is very allergic to cats, so thank God, I'm safe there!
What a great photo. My hubby would KILL for a photo like that with his dad. Your hubby was blessed with a caring father. I agree …the cat is totally arrogant in that photo.
Have a great day Beth…and your daughter's eyes do look like your hubby's in this photo…Alicia is right…God is so awesome!
Beth, no wonder your husband is so awesome. It seems to be so rare today to hear about a great father-son relationship like this. So, I guess you're going to have to put up with the animals. LOL. But not the bull.
That is so sweet! That story got me teary. Such a great memory and photo.
BTW-I love the song playing.
Poor cats! As you said, they are delightfully and wonderfully made by our Lord! That sweet cat was lying by his sick master protecting him and you said he was being arrogant. Cats are so misunderstood!
That was an incredibly sweet picture of your husband and his dad. What a blessing you have that picture…
Love you, Conkie
what a great photo you shared beth! it is truly priceless!!!
This is such a sweet picture because normally it's the mom who checks the sick child!! Very precious, indeed!!
LOL about the cat! We used to have a cat, but I made sure that thing stayed outside!!!!!!!!
Precious photo and memories especially 4 your husband. So sorry for his Dad's lost.
You're talking to a fellow pet lover like your hubby so I'll bow out gracefully as I pet my dogs two bottoms that are (one near my head right now) and the other at my thigh. Our cat passed away a few months ago but when she was here she was right in the mix with them 🙂
I have to say however she was so neat and clean. We never had any issues with her about her liter box etc. People used to be shocked when they visited and suddenly she'd appear because there was no evidence that she was here but some cats can be messy especially with their liter boxes and some of them have a bit of an attitude too 🙂
Okay, that is too cute. My daughter always has the animals all over her, too. I do love the way your father-in-law is gazing with such adoration at the whole scene. What an awesome memory for your husband.
That is the sweetest picture!! You and my husband have the same opinion about cats. We have 2 cats and each are both unique in their personalities! One sleeps with our daughter every night and the other is just very stand offish!
We also have a beagle…gotta love those pets!
Aww a picture says a thousand words! How precious! So cute how his pets were surrounding him as if they were comforting him. 😀
Such a precious picture.
That is a sweet of picture of your husband and his Dad.
I love my kitties and wouldn't trade them for anything. When I was in severe pain on Friday from this last procedure (oh my was I sick) my little Tigger slept right by my side. He has always done that. It's like he knew I was sick. It's comforting to me. I have always had a fondness for animals.
I thought only blogger moms took pictures of these moments. Kudos to your MIL for capturing this moment so many years ago.
It is sweet and there is kindness and love right there.
So you're the one that hates cats…I thought it was someone else. Cats own everything and that can be hard to adjust to, but I love our kitty boy. We torture him with hugs and pats and pokes all day long.
Have a nice weekend,
Nannette
