Yesterday I listened to a podcast by Ryan Wyatt with Abiding Glory Ministries. I didn’t get to finish it, but this one statement stuck in my heart!
Ryan said, “Don’t wait for the anointing! Do it THEN the ANOINTING will come!”
Amen! I know this is true! For instance, as most of you know I love to lay hands on the sick and pray for healing.
Sometimes I see them healed immediately before my eyes. Sometimes nothing happens. When nothing happens, does it change what Jesus told us to do?
Mark 16:15-18
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
The answer is NO — it does NOT change the commission Jesus gave us.
So many of us have a desire to do certain things for the Kingdom and so many times we do wait for the anointing to rest upon us. How many years do we waste?
I have heard many examples of those who are known for being used by God. Heidi Baker with Iris Ministries for example. She laid her hands on everyone who needed healing. It was a LONG time before she really began to see people healed and set free. She continued to do what Jesus commissioned her to do and the breakthrough came. If you aren’t familiar with Heidi and her awesome ministry in Mozambique, click on her link.
The devil definitely tried to discourage me with my own family. My own parents have health issues, but I would pray for others and see them healed. Over the years I have given this “concern” to the Lord. HE is the healer — we are just the conduit. If I pray for someone and don’t see victory, it is between that person and God. It is not my responsibility. But it IS my responsibility to pray. It is your responsibility to pray too.
So, what are you waiting for? Begin to lay hands and people who need healing. As a believer, you are called to do this.
So true! Thanks for sharing that, I needed to be reminded. (I love Ryan Wyatt & Heidi Baker). So many times I start out obeying God's command, but before it's all over it becomes "all about me" if they don't get healed. I take it personally and feel like I did something wrong. It's good to hear that people like Heidi persevered until she saw results. Very encouraging! Love ya
I do lay hands on the sick and have
seen some healed, some not. Jesus
is the healer. We pray and believe
and then I believe it is up to the
person who is sick to receive and
ultimately the Holy Spirit to bring
the healing.
I love Heidi and Ryan, too. I'd rather
hear Eric Gonyon from Rodney's church,
The River, preach on healing than
anyone I know. He just goes for it
and lays it all out there. I love it
when he says, "Just tell the devil
to go to hell and stop harassing
you and your loved ones! Take that
healing!"
I heard Dr. Bob Rodgers of Evangel World Prayer Center in Louisville, KY (he's an expert on fasting and prayer and has been on TBN) say something many years ago that has stuck with me. He said that so many people, when they go to work in their gifts, that they pray, "Oh Lord please anoint me to do this or that." But he said, why are you praying for anointing when you already have it? Don't pray for it, WALK IN IT. I loved that and still think of it to this day when I get up to minister in song or pray for someone. Thanks for this post!
