There have been a couple of things on my heart lately that I’d like to share with you.
First, a couple of weeks ago I was reading a scripture about a neighbor who was persistent — knocking on a door in the night until it was opened. That has really given me the nudge to continue to pray and believe in a particular area of my life. Maybe some of you needed this reminder as well.
Here is another scenario in the bible where Jesus was teaching his disciples.
Luke 18:1-8
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care about men, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually wear me out with her coming!’ ”
And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will He keep putting them off? I tell you, He will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”
I don’t know about you, but I know about some situations that need desperate prayer. I need to be more diligent in lifting them before the Throne of God.
Another teaching point and scripture that I have witnessed this past week:
Matthew 18:19
Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
The key word in that scripture is AGREE.
Is there some formula we can use to manipulate God and trick Him into doing what we desire? NO. If there was, it would be nothing less than witchcraft. However, HE tells us that IF we AGREE in what we are asking …
To me that is saying IF WE AGREE IN PRAYER — as we are praying His Will.
I really had my eyes opened lately about AGREEMENT when praying for others.
For example, (hypothetically) if someone asks for prayer concerning financial breakthrough — then each person praying should be in agreement and believing/asking for this person. The group should be asking the Lord to make a way financially — to give this person wisdom in the choices he makes, etc … It would NOT be in agreement if someone in the group suddenly prayed, “Father, when he goes bankrupt, help it go smoothly.”
Do you get my drift?
Have you ever been in a prayer group situation where everyone is in agreement then one lone soul speaks up and undermines everything that has already been prayed?
That is another reason why you should be careful with whom you share prayer requests. I don’t share personal things with many people — only those who I know will speak LIFE, none of that “Well Father, IF IT IS YOUR WILL” when the bible has already said IT IS His Will …
Ok, so that is what has been on my heart. :o) With that said, in the past three weeks I have seen SIX spines come into alignment and backs healed. Hallelujah! All glory to God! One is still in process and will be completely healed soon. Yes, God is still touching people today in 2010.
On a totally different note, I have been really busy trying to keep up with emails and phone calls about our corn maze. The only reason I have a second to write this post is because I haven’t checked my email yet. Ha.
I miss you all and pray that all is well with you. I’ll be able to visit you all after October.
Yes…thank you so much…I have been giving up in a prayer request and needed this reminder. She kept persisting with the judge. How easy it is to let the enemy speak to us that it won't happen instead of staying at the throne!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Love your maze and love the name for your husband Boaz!
I just reminded my daughter yesterday to wait for her Boaz!
Been here before and will visit again. Thanks for the "truth" in your word today.
Gotta go pray!!!
A good, thoughtful post, Beth. I will say that there have been times when I have personally lifted up a request in accordance to God's will. I have to respectfully disagree that there is anything wrong with this– Christ prayed in this manner himself in the garden of Gethsemane, although the Will of God had already been clearly spoken. IMO, this is yet another way in which I choose to humble myself before the Lord and profess my faith in His plan, purpose and good timing.
I know what you mean when it comes to sharing prayer requests. I actually prefer not to share prayer requests specific to my son's allergies to those who demand immediate healing in the name of Christ. We trust His will to be done in His good timing, not in ours. KWIM?
Good post. Lots of stuff to think about!
UNDERSTAND.
Amen to that sister!
Hope all is going well at the maze!
Love and Prayers,
Tim
Such a wonderful, truthful post sis. I love you.
You defintely get a big AMEN from me on this one! I know you're so busy right now, Beth, but don't overdo it! Take some time for YOU!
Amen sister! To me, all we need to do is completely trust and believe! His Word says it all.
God bless you sister and praying for His strength to be yours! To God be the glory!
Hi there, So agree with this and our need to be careful with whom we share any prayer need. Sure appreciated hearing about the healing you've witnessed recently, I've faced some health issues and am believing that our God still heals today and delights to do this for His children.
Hugs, Noreen
Hi Beth,
Amen! Beautiful post and miss you. Hope to see you soon.
Blessings and hugs.
When we all get together and pray for the SAME thing, we agree and God has said your thoughts determine your future type thing (if you think you're happy, you really are. If you think you're sick, you will be)
It then boils down to if you agree, you believe TOO which means so it'll be. If you believe you can move mountains then surely you can – didnt Jesus advocate this!!!
You're right on point gal 😀 if i think i can or i think i cant, I'm probably right SO I THINK I CAN
So full of truth dear one. Powerful post. Appreciate you sharing. Blessings.
