Yesterday, my daughter and I were in a hurry to gather groceries to deliver to my parents. If you have read my blogs in the past, you know that I walk on huge needles — expecting accusation from my Mom if I get the wrong “brand” or “size” of any item she requested. Seriously, it has to be exactly what she asked me to purchase. It is not a pleasant experience to say the least.

So here we go … zooming through Harris Teeter. A few aisles over I heard the sound of a very sick little child. I heard a very deep, rattle sounding cough. It was horrible. I had already given my little Princess the big lecture before we entered the store, “DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS NEAR YOUR MOUTH!”

As we shopped the sound got closer and suddenly we were on the same aisle as TWO children (same family) coughing all over the place. I tried to avoid them and turned around when I could. I felt like I was avoiding the plague.

At the end of our shopping experience, we ended up behind them in the checkout line because there was only one register open! I wrote my check from the cart instead of standing where the family stood (ok, I know I am ridiculous). Then I noticed the older child touching several of the “free” balloon strings. Oh man!!! So no balloon for Princess.

When we got in our vehicle, I explained to my little one how those little children were sick and I didn’t want her touching the same balloon strings. She said, “Mommy, we need to pray for those little children.” OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOSH, I WAS SO CONVICTED! From the mouth of babes, right?

I immediately asked forgiveness and we prayed for the children.

God forgive me for being so focused on me and my family
