I want to record this before I forget all about it. Last weekend we were trying to get Princess down for the night. She kept refusing to go to bed (as if she could win against us). Finally Boaz just picked her up and took her to bed. When he bent over to place her on the bed, she began to scream and kick at him (lol!). I thought to myself, “Ut oh’s … this is NOT going to be good.”
Boaz immediately popped her on her thigh (that was covered by thick winter footed PJ’s) to inform her that she WAS NOT going to act like that! Of course, she got her way eventually and he got her out of the bed and held her until she fell asleep (sucker). —->
The next day, Boaz said to Prinecss, “Honey, Daddy didn’t want to pop you last night. Do you know why I did?” Princess said, “Yes, because I didn’t want to go to bed.” Boaz said, “It really hurt Daddy in here (pointing to his heart) when I had to pop you” and she said, “Well, it really hurt Princess here (pointing to her thigh).” LOL! That was priceless.
Then the other night our dog Peanut was leaning on Sarah and she said, “Get off of me Peanut!” David said, “He just wants some lovin’ Sarah” and she said, “Well, you love him then!”
She is definitely my daughter. Ha!
Ha! It is hillarious how we parents endeavour to discipline our kids *properly*.
To this day I hear from my son, Titus (he’s 30 now) how I broke a wooden spoon on his padded derriere. At the time I tried to do the ‘one warning and I act’ approach as it would not get me all wound up when he acted out. He knew that when he transgressed the one warning, it meant mum was getting the wooden spoon and held his hands over his backside in anticipation. Afterwards, my little boy was sat on my lap, cuddled into me, I wrapped my arms around him, and reaffirmed him that mum loves him and not mad at him, but he had to learn not to cross the one warning. For some reason my daughter, Charis, managed to get close to getting the spoon, but was clever enough to avoid it.
I guess breaking that spoon, was funny for him and myself and he never forgot it.
Thanks for posting the funny stories, Beth. It clearly got me to share mine …. wonder what stories other parents have LOL
Bless you,
Angelika.
