Ahhhh, good ol’ North Carolina weather. Yesterday we really got a sense of AUTUMN in the air. We actually had to wear long pants and light jackets. Heaven I tell you, just heaven! It was drizzling rain, cool breeze … love it! Of course, it wasn’t great for business, but who cares — it felt like AUTUMN.
Autumn, or “fall” as we call it around here, is one of my favorite times of the year. Thinking back to my childhood, I can still hear a chainsaw running in a distance — you know, the echo through the crisp cool air. I remember helping my daddy stack wood for the winter (not that we heated our house WITH the wood, but enjoyed our fireplace as a luxury).
At the young age of seventeen I began to date my husband this time of year. We dated for six months, broke up and reunited IN THE FALL when I was twenty. Of course, we MARRIED in the fall when I was twenty-two. So you see, I love this time of the year.
Pumpkins! Who doesn’t love the look of a pumpkin? Here is a tiny bit of trivia for you. According to my research, a pumpkin is a member of the squash family! Though squash are vegetables, a pumpkin is considered a fruit. Very strange. I always wondered and now I know.
Nothing says fall like lovely harvest decorations: pumpkins, bales of hay, mums, scarecrows, Indian corn, and corn shucks. From the time my husband and I married I began to decorate our farm each fall. Not so much the Halloween stuff, just harvest. I’m not into ghost, witches, skeletons, etc … Just rich colors that represent what God created and what represents harvest time.
Ok, so I’m rambling, but you can tell that I love, love, love cool weather and this wonderful season!
To Pumpkins at Pumpkin Time by Grace Cornell Tall
Back into your garden-beds!
Here come the holidays!
And woe to the golden pumpkin-heads
Attracting too much praise.Hide behind the hoe, the plow,
Cling fast to the vine!
Those who come to praise you now
Will soon sit down to dine.Keep your lovely heads, my dears,
If you know what I mean…
Unless you want to be in pie,
Stay hidden or stay green!!
I hope you can enjoy the beauty of fall where you are. To God be the glory — the Creator of heaven and of earth. He has given us such beauty to behold!
Have a blessed Saturday my friends!
I love this weather too!! It was 45f here this morning!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

It is feeling like fall here just a bit. Still warm. I am loving the 70 degree weather. It is supposed to drop though. Fall is my favorite time of the year. Everything just seems so new. Strange because it is getting ready to go dormant, but I still think the colors make it look like a new picture.
have a great and blessed weekend.
Hugs,
Mimi
I sure felt like fall last night with all that drizzling. I love that you two were high school sweethearts! John and I are too
Fall is my favorite time of year!!!! I really see God best in the majesty of the changing of seasons, especially this time of year.
Beth, I love this post. Believe it or not, autumn is my favorite season too. Why do I live in Phoenix, right? LOL.
I checked out your website and LOVED it. I wish I lived closer so I could visit.
Love you,
Debbie
The rain started here YESTERDAY. I'm praying it brings cooler temps with it! I love fall!
I love fall! I love the colors and the smells of fall. I wish it lasted longer than it did.

I love this time of the year sweetie.
I've always loved fall. Notice how it smells like fall? I just love it!
This post is beautiful and makes me yearn for autumn.
It is in the 100's here each day!~
Fall…my favorite time of the year. Next year I will have a pumpkin patch! I'm not into the Halloween stuff either. I do have a funny fall decor in my front yard if you want to come over and check it out! Blessings to you!
I love Summer and I hate to see it end but Fall has beauty all it's own. What a wonderful God we have, who has given us seasons to enjoy.
It rained here all weekend and I loved it! I can't wait to do a little decorating. I love to put Mums out.
Your post and pics just beautiful!.
Thanks for dropping by and following.
Highly appreciated.
I'm your happy new follower! 🙂
Have a lovely day!.
Much cooler today, [thank God!] after several weeks of triple digit temps…Whew…
I love Fall, too. It makes my morning cup of joe's more enjoyable:)
Happy Fall sister! God bless.
I was in a hurry this morning, Beth, but then your fall post caught my eye, and since this is my favorite season, I had to stop to soak in the beauty of this post.
I love harvest decorations, too. Although I don’t put any out until the first of November because of October 31, I refuse to even use the word for the celebration of that day. Of course, I don’t think there is anything wrong with decorations in October.
We just never go to purchase pumpkins until November 1st because I do not want to contribute to the sells for October 31st. It is my own personal statement, not one I expect anyone else to share. I almost never even tell people that we do not celebrate October 31, unless the person to whom I am speaking brings up the subject…like inviting us to a party, or asking me what my children will be wearing.
Interesting bit of info on the pumpkin…I love pumpkins and pumpkin pie is my favorite!
